“It's very nice”
We had a layover to avoid the holiday travel rush of Thanksgiving. I like the location - a lot of good eateries. But at night everything seems closed passed 9 and a lot of police cars. Guess Puerto Rico is not very safe? But in all, the hotel was great! Oh, they have an honor bar! How cool is that?
“A jewel in the heart of Old San Juan”
If you would like to walk cobble stoned streets, listen to excellent street musicians, dine on fine cuisine or perhaps even try a little flameco dancing you will love this place..
“Great historic hotel”
El Convento is a unique historic hotel in Old San Juan. The location is great and the hotel itself is very European. We had a wonderful stay.
“Exceeded my expectations”
I loved the hotel, food, and staff. The surrounding neighborhood was nice and cozy. Im planning another trip soon.
“Birthday in San Juan”
El Convento is an Excellent Hotel - my wife and I had a superb time and would recommend this establishment
“Great place in Old San Juan”
I wanted to stay in a nice hotel in Old San Juan, central to the places I wanted to visit. I got a great price through Expedia, and this hotel definitely fit the bill for what I had in mind. The hotel itself was lovely, built in a modern restoration of the Spanish Colonial style, with lots of light from the windows, comfortable furniture, and even a free wine and cheese reception every evening. The staff was very helpful when I wanted to know the best way to get from here to there during my various tourist outings. The only drawback, I would say, is that the location is right across from a couple of bars... so don't expect a lot of quiet at night as you head into the weekend. It's also located on Cristo Street, which is one of the narrower streets in Old San Juan, so a lot of tours won't pick you up from the hotel- for my tour in the rainforest, I had to meet at the Sheraton Old San Juan, which is about 3/4-1 mile away. Not a big deal, but just something to keep in mind.
“Old San Juan”
Much improved since I was last at the El Convento about 3 years ago. Great staff, nice hotel. Old San Juan is beautiful but remember it's crowded when the cruise ships are in and it's very touristy. Still everyone should go at least once when going to Puerto Rico.
“If you love being treated like royalty...”
Listen...Icould write tons about this amazing stay but I'll break it down to a couple of sentences...Amazing service, immaculate rooms and complimentary wine and cheese from 7pm to 8pm....To top it off it is THE spot for old san juan events....perfect...
“Excellent and better”
El Convento was amazing and I recommend it to anyone going to San Juan. There's an amazing free wine and cheese that creates a true community for the hotel. More importantly, the hotel treats hospitality with the highest degree of professionalism. We absolutely loved it.
“Very happy with our stay.”
The setting and staff are lovely. The atmosphere is one of relaxation and luxury - and its wonderfully quiet! There are all sorts of little terraces around the hotel that are perfect for a nap or a date with a good book. We also happily took advantage of the beach at their sister hotel, La Concha, in the Condado area. My only complaint is a small one - that our bathroom towels were not changed, but only re-hung. I approve of this practice from an environmental standpoint - and given the option, I would have chosen it. However, I wish we would have been told that this was the usual practice, as opposed to experiencing it as a small surprise. Again, we had a fabulous stay at El Convento and we definately plan to stay here in the future.
