“great for the cost and location”

hotel had great location and shuttle service to Heinz Field

“OK Hotel at edge of Oakland”

Not the best location for walking, hotel has a shuttle for locations within 3 miles, but I didn't use it. Internet worked well; room was clean and fairly quiet. Bed was comfortable, and there was coffee in the lobby around the clock. Free breakfast with real eggs and bacon and adequate choices.

“Convenient to CMU”

Very convenient to carnegie and U Pitt. Breakfast was good and lobby was swanky. Bathrooms were not cleaned properly which we had to call for and get it done before even taking bath!, othrwise we will stil stay there even the next time due to it's proximity and friendly shuttle service.

“Hampton Pittsburgh”

Although this location was fairly convenient to the downtown areas where I traveled to conduct business, getting to the hotel off the street was extremely inconvenient and confusing. One has to practically take an alley to find the hotel entrance nestled in a hospital campus. There is a small Hampton sign off a side street, but rather easy to miss. There is limited parking, as well. Despite these inconveniences. the staff is extremely warm, welcoming, professional and helpful.

Market Square -- very quaint area with lots of outside/courtyard dining.

“Good university location.”

The Hampton Inn is a nice hotel located very close to the playhouse and the university. It pleasant place to stay. The staff was very nice.

“Parking is not included in rate.”

Except for the full size bed in our room when we reserved and verified through Expedia that we would receive a queen, and the $14 per night parking fee, everything was excellent. Friendly concierge. Good breakfast. Good location. Free shuttle to Pittsburgh (downtown).

Area recommendations

Oakland. There is always something happening at Pitt. Many places to eat and see. (or nearby).

Getting around

Watch for Pitt events like Homecoming, Parents' Weekend, or big football or basketball games. Parking is difficult. Best to park and then take public transportation or hoof it.

Dining

Must grab a dog at the Original (the "O". Pamela's for breakfast. Primanti Bros. for incredible sandwich. Can't get a bad meal in Oakland.
