“What's that smell?”

Terrible sewer/drain odour in bathroom: quite nausea inducing. Otherwise spotless. Extremely noisy large bookings of student groups made for a very smelly and noisy sleep deprived experience. Too bad as area is great: vibrant, mixed and handy to stationand centre. Not to be repeated though.

“Week-end in Paris”

The hotel's situation is perfect if you want to be near the Opera and that part of Paris is enchanting with lovely little restaurants nearby. Bus numbers 67 and 48 stop very near the hotel and there are two metro stations just round the corner.

Area recommendations
Paris is a great city. It has some of the loveliest buildings and something for everyone. The transport system is very straightforward so it's easy to get around. It's a good idea to buy a day ticket in any Metro station so you can get on and off buses and Metro trains without having to find change. We stayed in the Opera district to be near the Paris Opera Garnier. Book tickets for this on-line beforehand as the ballets and operas are always sold out. The elegant 16th arrondissment is on the west side by the Bois de Bologne which is huge park and a good place to visit in the daytime. Notre Dame Cathedral is on the Ile de la Cité and so is La Sainte Chapelle, incredible stained glass windows and early music concerts every evening - tickets from the café just opposite. Montmartre has the Moulin Rouge and several other theatres and reviews. It's worth climbing to the top to the Sacré-coeur for little narrow streets and fantastic views.
Getting around
A day ticket from any Metro Station can be used on Paris buses and the Metro and it makes exploring very easy. Bus drivers are really helpful. If we got on the wrong bus the drivers dropped us off at the correct stop.

“nice hotel for a good price”

the rooms are small, but very clean and comfortable. the location is very good, public transportation (metro) is only a few meters from the hotel. the surrounding neighborhood is also very interesting, there are lot of very nice asian restaurants and o lot of nice pubs, bars and cafes.

“great location”

the hotel was absolutely fine with a great location.only 20 minute walk from gard du nord and about 20/30 walk to louvre. my only complaint or advice would be to make sure you don't get a room either next to the lift or near the fire doors because the constant noise from these is an irritant early in the morning. also one other point to mention is that the euro is at such a low rate at the moment it makes things very exspensive ie coke 4.50 and a large beer 7.50. BEWARE !!

Area recommendations
dont miss monmarte, with its quaint old streets it is the best area of paris
When to go
remember that the first sunday of the month all the museums are free to enter including the louvre and pompidou

“Good 3 star in great location”

The hotel was exactly what we wanted - a cheap 3-star hotel in a central location. It's on a side-street a block from Grand Boulevards metro station and 5 mins walk from Galleries LaFayette. The neighbourhood is really handy - lots of cafes and places to get a bite to eat on the doorstep, plus supermarkets that are all open late. Two minor negatives - 1. The hotel charges exorbitant prices for drinks and bottled water. But the tap water was perfectly drinkable and with the supermarkets nearby you can buy your own for very little. 2. The double bed was small and the mattress was a bit hard. Other than those minor gripes it was a very positive visit and I would recommend it to anyone needing a base for a night or two in central Paris.

Area recommendations
I really liked this area - I think it's the 9th arrondissement - and I always try to stay there.

“Great area to be in.”

Went for a 4day, 3night stay in Paris in January and generally very happy with the Best Western Bergere Opera. +: Good area-felt very safe in that area and there were plenty of bistros and restauants for the evening. +: Great transport connection-the Metro stop was a couple of minutes walk down the street and so easy to go sightseeing. +: Good location-even if you wanted to walk to places it was very easy (we walked to the Louvre and only took 30mins-ish). +: Overall friendly service and staff spoke English, everything we asked them was done for us. +: Rooms were nice and warm and clean and tidy. -: Hotel was undergoing a bit of work at the time so a bit noisy mid-morning-that wasn't really a big issue though.

“Excellent hotel!!! Would definitely return!!!”

Our stay at the Bergere Opera was lovely! The staff was very helpful and efficient! The rooms were made up perfectly every day (with the softest white sheets and blankets). You can walk to almost anywhere with a good pair of walking shoes. Haussman Blvd. (Gallerie Lafayete and Printemp) is a few blocks away too!!! Tons of places to eat.....

“Worth a look”

Staff helpful and friendly. Room "compact" but adequate for our needs. Air conditioning worked well and was quiet. Had a safe but no fridge. Info in room indicated complimentary tea/coffee making tray available from reception but disappointingly this was a small plug in kettle but with no cups saucers tea or coffee! Very nicely decorated lounge area downstairs

“Not impressed”

The best thing about this hotel is its location. The front desk staff was OK, however one of the concierge was extremely unfriendly. The room although overlooked the interior garden (which indeed is not used and has fake grass) was very noisy.

Traveller's tip
The hotel is very close to the Grands Boulevards metro station. If you use the metro I recommend you purchase the 10 trips book for 11.40 euros rather than individual tickets (1.60 euros each).

“Beaucoup de plaisir !!!”

L'hôtel est très bien situé, le quartier est très vivant. La réception est magnifique, les chambres sont confortables. Le petit déjeuner, certes un peu cher (12€), est très complet. A recommander
