Under construction

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Pros: location
Cons: coffee/water station, the whole hotel is using it
Location: Wildfish restaurant, amazing 2 minutes away
I have stayed at this hotel a few times before and really enjoyed. Unfortunately it was under construction, even the restaurant and bar area was gone!! they served coffee and ice water, but it was empty alot! the relaxing amenities and the pool were also affected by this. If I would have known this was under construction I would have chosen elsewhere, I was on a mini vacation and had to leave the property to relax...fyi

Clean Hotel with Friendly Staff on the Lagoon

Posted 17-Feb-2015
Pros: Location and friendly staff.
Cons: Noise from elevators in rooms annoying when trying to sleep. Pool area small.
Location: Fashion Island, Newport Beach, Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve
A hotel convenient to a lagoon/bay for morning hiking, biking, and running. Convenient to beach, Fashion Shopping Center, and dining. Only negative was the loud elevator noise at night when trying to sleep and our room was several rooms away from the elevator. Sounds like the noise is transmitted through the frame of the building. The only (but significant) negative about an otherwise fine hotel.

Nice hotel not close to beach.

I attended a seminar at the Island Hotel where the rooms were very pricey and also small. The Marriott (known as the mini Marriott) was reasonably priced and I had a suite. Even for one person it was very nice.

If you like to shower in sulfur, go ahead..

Posted 19-Jan-2015
Pros: The cleanliness of the rooms, staff was friendly.
Cons: Staff was limited to what they could do, Marriott needs to step up their game in quality for this hotel.
Location: Easy access to fwy 73
My husband and I have previously enjoyed staying at this Marriott at least 6-7 times now when we come to visit family in Orange County but after this last experience, we may need to re-think our hotel arrangements. First I would like to say that the shower water smell like sulfur when you bathe. You smell like rotten eggs for the entire day after the shower. Even washing your hands will make your hands smell afterwards. The staff moved us from our room because in addition to the shower, our heater wasn't working during New Years when it was necessary. The staff said that the sulfur smell has not been a problem before and no one has complained about it. Our shower in the next room smelled again like rotten eggs. In addition, they offered us complimentary breakfast for the morning we left but no free wifi for the problems we were experiencing. And parking was expensive for what you get at $20 a day and no electric vehicle charging systems. Plus the hotel is under construction, not worth the price when the hotel is undergoing massive work.

Pros: I like the location and the ability to walk the Bay .
Cons: I wish i knew that it was under renovation. This is a mojor renovation that will take months to complete. The halls are crowded and noisy.
I have stayed at the hotel many times. I was unaware that it was under renovation.Major renovation. The entire font of the hotel , including the parking is under construction. Rooms are nice but the hotel was not what i expected

Great hotel, close to Beach & Fashion Island shops

Posted 02-Jan-2015
Pros: Room cleanliness, appearance, and siz.
Cons: Chairs for the balcony/price accommodations for the renovations taking place.
Location: Fashion Island, South Coast Plaza, the beach.
Stayed for New Year's Eve, and the hotel lobby and restaurant were undergoing a renovation at the time. A bit unappealing to look at, and a surprise to us as we were not made aware of this beforehand. However, the 1 bedroom King Suite was spacious and had all the modern amenities you would expect from a Marriott hotel. The balcony was a nice addition as well, although they should add some chairs outside to sit on. Less than a 5 minute drive to Fashion Island or the beach. Great hotel!!
