“Will go again”
Rooms were nice, beautiful view from balcony. There was some remodeling down the hall from us, but not enough to bother us. Read directions for safe carefully. I saw some reviews that said safe didn't work, and at first we thought ours didn't, but the key goes INSIDE the safe and it will work fine. The buffet was diverse and most things were very good, not always hot, but its a buffet. The grill and Japanese restaurants were fabulous. We made our reservations by email about a week before we left. Dinner at the grill took a while, but there is a buffet to snack on while you wait, and we were on vacation,in Jamaica, we went to not be in a hurry. Pool is very large w/ 2 swim up bars. One side is quiet, the other is a little more of a party. Bartenders were accomadating and fun. A little bit of tipping goes a long way, with maids, servers, bartenders etc,. Reserve a chair early if you want one, they go fast. The grounds are beautiful, but the resort is large so you may have to do a little walking. Piscis is the beach snack bar, that is where you will find the jerk chicken, amazing. Its not a 5 star resort, but it is still pretty nice, a good value, and we had a great time. Would stay at this resort again.
“Paradise”
Not only was this hotel located in the most picturesque location but the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The hotel was luxurious and very clean. They were located about pretty close to many different activities which we took full advantage of. We travelled with 2 children ( 11 & 4 ) and the resort was very kid friendly with lots to do. There were many children of all ages. The food was excellent and there were many choices....
“A long walk to food that wasn't very good.”
The facility was very attractive but for our tastes was much too large and commercial. The food wasn't very good at the general buffet and we had a very hard time getting reservations in the specialty restaurants even though they were included in our inclusive package. They maid service wasn't all that great since we had to even ask for toilet paper, soap and tissues and drinks because they weren't restocked.
“Not Impressed with Gran Bahia Jamaica”
I definitely wouldn't recommed this hotel to anyone. The operations were run terribly. Had two double beds booked for a friend and myself. They gave us a room with one king and then gave us a hard time about switching to what we had booked. Went with a group of ten. Two other couples were given rooms with two double beds when they booked rooms with one king. We were supposed to receive three diners from their gourmet resteraunts during our stay. When we went to schedule the meals, we were told all the resteraunts were booked for the next week. This wouldn't have been so bad if the food in the buffets was edible, but it was terrible. After complaining about the gourmet meals we were able to schedule one of the three meals we were supposed to recieve. The mosquitos in our room may have been the worst part though. Our room literally had at least 100 mosquitos in it. They sprayed for them twice, but it didn't really help. Luckily no one else in our group had the same issue. The hotel definitely wasn't completely booked. They could have moved us to another room, but would only offer to spray for the room again. The hotel itself was nice and kept up well though. Great pools, beach, and plenty of ammenities. The resort was simply run horribly though.
“very good for sunbathing and swimming”
the room I had was very good #135@@, spent little more money for ocean view, the food just ok get tired of it after 4 days, tips the maid , will get alot better .
“Incredible Place!”
This place is enormous!! In our week long trip we could not explore the entire place! There is an enormous spread of food (though any buffet gets old after a while). The only complaint I could think of would be the lack of towels. We couldn't get a beach towel the entire time. Usually we bring our own and will again in the future. Everything else was FABULOUS!! Be ready for a good time and you will have a BLAST!!
“"No worries, we fix it, we get, we will have it"....no they didn't!”
Just get on Trip Advisor and read the reviews yourself. Do your homework. People are not kidding about this place. We had to give LOTS of BIG tips to get anything done. Gerrick (a hard G sound) was great and made things happen. He took care of us the whole trip. He's behind the main bar so if you didn't do your homework and you ended up booking at least look him up. We took a trip with one of his friends to the falls because the hotel event people WOULDN'T book us a trip unless we had 10 people...we had 8 and all the CASH ready! So we took a chance on an islander and they took great care of us...Michael was the driver. The grounds were beautiful and the pool filled with plastic cups from people too lazy to throw them away. The rooms were dirty with smears of bug guts everywhere. Our bathroom leaked the entire time even after we called TWICE. It was not a SMALL leak. It was pouring in, in about 6 places. I tried to catch the water with garbage cans but we only had two. So each morning we were greeted with a large pool of water..we wore our shoes EVERYWHERE. The maid was even mad because she had even complained. You are on island time...nothing is done or explained to you. Bring with you lots of cash...it keeps them moving and motivated. Also REMEMBER at check in to get your safe or you will be making the HIKE to PAY for one. In all I think the problem is the resort is to big. They can't keep up, there are tons of workers but not a lot of them are working.
“Honeymoon”
My husband and I went on our honeymoon here. It was a short one only 4 nights and we definently could have used more time. We had a great time. We went on the catamaran/booze cruise/snorkeling (cool runnings) and the shopping excursion. We also did snorkeling and paddle boats right at the hotel. We loved the swim up bar and def took advantage of it. I had read the past comments for the Gran Bahia Principe and to be quite honest if you are snooty or high maintnance then you probably wont like it here. Yea there weren't any wash clothes but you can improvised they give you a sponge in your little basket on the sink. Yes it is a lot of walking but after a huge dinner at one of the restaurants there's nothing better then taking a walk afterward. We also did the water aerobics which felt great to get some great and fun exercise in. And the staff was amazing they did what ever they could to please there guests and we didn't get any attitude. A lot of people did come up to us asking if we wanted to buy any pot. We have many to many other Carribean islands and the same thing happened there so its not just Jamaica that people are like this. The same when you go shopping they want you to buy there stuff. We asked the tour guide how they get most of there money and he said fish and tourist. I would defintely go back and I have already recommended this place to people as a little getaway its perfect.
“Relaxing stay”
Me my husband and our 6 year old Daughter stayed at GBP for 7 days, it had a lot for kids to do, but ifyou wanted adult time it wa offered aswell. I would recomend you going there we had a great time. The staff was great, food was great, even if you were on the beach chefs come to the beach and cook for you. The propery is big so bring your sneakers, but over all we would love to go back for another stay.
“A very nice resort”
My husband and I just back from a trip to the Gran Bahia Principe, and we had a great time! The beach is nice with lots of room to swim and a bar/restroom close by. The buffet had a huge variety but they still had some traditional Jamaican food for those who wanted it. The coffee was great too, always a plus in my book. The beach bar was good for a mid-afternoon drink or lunch: try the jerk chicken! We enjoyed the restaurants, they have similar food in all of them, just prepared in different ways, so as long as you have that in mind, you will have no problem! The Japanese restaurant and the Don Pablano were my favorites. We also enjoyed the bar in the lobby a lot, a great place for a 'nicer' cocktail or coffee after dinner. We went there at least once everyday! We arent' 'pool people', but everyone seemed to love the pool as well. There was also nighttime shows and a disco that we never went to, if you're looking for later night activities. We had a very relaxing time, I would definitely go back!
