Pros: The are was very prime. The rooms were very nice and clean and prepped with everything two people would need to do all the cooking they intended doing
Cons: The beds were comfy, but I had a problem with the fitted sheets not being "fitted." I prefer to sleep on sheets, not a bare mattress because they move
Location: Ala Moana shopping center is a 10 minute walk, and they have every store you could want. The beach is two minutes past that.
My boyfriend and I came to Hawaii for both a vacation, and for a Spartan mud run. We weren't looking to spend a fortune there, which is why we chose the Pagoda Hotel. Their rates could not be beat, especially being as close as they were to everything (excellent restaurants, Ala Moana shopping center and the beach all are within minutes of the hotel). We also wanted the option to be able to cook breakfasts for ourselves throughout the week, as we needed to be well fed rather early for our run, and the room that we got with the kitchenette was perfect for what we needed.

Close to Ala Moana shopping centre

Posted 24-Aug-2014
Cons: Decor definitely
Location: Wallmart 24 hrs thank goodness for this and Ala Moana shopping centre
It was ok very cheap accommodation. the check in guy was not very accommodating and didnt share any info about any specials so we had no wifi for first 3 days until I read somewhere about the extra $10 fee we can pay to have dvd and internet. Very disppointing that the trolley shuttle as advertised was not yet running considering hotel was 5 mins drive from waikiki. Spent a lot of extra money on getting into waikiki so not happy about that. Facilities were poor very old but while there they were refurbish7ng. Due to locality I would not be staying there again as too far from main drag of Waikiki.

Reasonably priced hotel

Posted 12-Aug-2014
Location: Walmart and Sam's Club are just down the street. Lots of restaurants nearby. Within reasonable walking distance of both Waikiki Beach and downtown.
Our stay was a mixed experience. Although the neighborhood wasn't the best, we actually liked the location as it allowed us to walk both to Waikiki Beach and to downtown (the capitol and palace). Shopping (at Ala Moana, Walmart, or even for groceries at Don Quijote) was very convenient. And parking, at only $10/day, was much less expensive than at Waikiki hotels. The room itself was also a mixed bag. We had a double-double in the tower. During our stay, they upgraded much of the furniture in the room. The fridge (and freezer!) worked well. However, the microwave was missing, and the room safe was locked so it was unusable. The bath tub had been painted at some point, and the paint was chipping (unsightly but fully functional). Our room was supposed to come with free breakfast. When we checked in, they informed us that we would get two vouchers (we had four people in the room) each day, but we had to request them at the front desk each morning at 7:00 am. Your choice between two breakfast options was served in the restaurant, a beautiful facility surrounded by a classic garden with fish ponds. The hotel advertised that it had both wired Internet and wi-fi. However, when we asked about the wi-fi (which didn't work), we were told that they were still working on it. Finally, as we were checking out, there was a posted notice that they would soon start charging a $10/day resort fee. So, although we didn't have to pay the fee, you will.

Good location

Posted 04-Aug-2014
Pros: Location and staff
Cons: Renovate it!
Good location close to Ala Moana Shopping Center and other stores. The hotel needs a renovation, it's quite old and facilities outdated, but rooms are clean and staff very friendly. I would not choose this hotel for a vacation, but it's ok for 1-2 nights.

Below average hotel, good if you don't care much

Posted 31-Jul-2014
Pros: They added an extra bed at no charge to accommodate my little girl. we rented a room for 4 people with 4 beds.
Cons: Give the place a face lift. A friend who lives in the area came to visit and said that this hotel has been under renovation for ever.
Location: Nothing special, but not too far from shops. Too far to walk to the beach
Hotel was so so. personnel was okay, price was okay too. But the beds were terrible, the worst mattress I ever slept on, lumpy and springy. Sheets sometimes smelled bad and had to be replaced. Otherwise the room was clean. water in shower was not hot enough although usable. kitchen had ants. Lots of noise at all hours of the night, other dwellers did not care about the rest of us and were very noisy even at 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 in the morning.
