All 174 guestrooms at Algonquin Hotel Times Square, Autograph Collection were renovated in 2009 by noted designer Alexandra Champalimaud. Rooms feature signature pillowtop mattresses with a comforter and duvet, as well as upgraded bed linens. This hotel also offers 24 suites with the residential feel of a New York City apartment.

Wireless Internet access is complimentary, and guests may borrow laptop computers without charge. Televisions offer pay movies. Complimentary DVDs are available on request. Closets contain umbrellas.

Decor features antique-replica dark-wood furniture including work desks with two-line speakerphones. A copy of the New Yorker magazine can be found in all guestrooms; the magazine was founded at the Algonquin. Hallways feature wallpaper designed by New Yorker cartoonist Robert Mankoff.

“Great stay, so convenient. Amazing beds!!”

Stayed 2 days at the Algonquin and had a fabulous time. Great location, amazing beds. Exceptionally clean. Quiet beyond belief for New York hotel. Will definitely stay again.

“loved the quaintness and history”

Checked in around noon and there was only one person manning the checkin, checkout. and telephone operator resulting in a long delay until a another person arrived from her "lunch" break. Otherwise, we enjoyed everything about the hotel except the small bathroom. My wife has allready said she she would like to return to the same hotel. Our last stay in NY in may was at the Plaza.

“Not impressed”

Staff were very helpful and extremely courteous. Only enough space in room for one case, as we were in transit we had several. Bellman was very embarrassed about lack of space. DO NOT shower at 8.00 am as water is cool. (almost cold) Therefore if you want a hot water, shower before 7.30 am.

“A little Gem”

. A simple gesture like complimentary water in room does mean more than some gimmicky welcome feature. Perhaps the corridors' decor may seem jarring to some but I found myself smiling over the old "New Yorker" cartoons -and why be grumpy over the lovely literary heritage? Overall the rooms are spruce but the bathrooms would benefit from a little extra "elbow-grease" in the corners and,like other pricy NY. hotels some more updated bathtub/shower would be welcome although these were maintained meticulously.Staff are warm and friendly. Overall the Algonquin is original and its unique charm compensates for lack of views in this neighbourhood.

“Historic and still charming, but a bit tired.”

I have loved meeting friends for drinks at the Algonquin and imagining the era of Dorothy Parker and her circle. The martinis in the lobby are always crisp and the service appropriately solicitous. So I was a little disappointed at my first overnight stay when I found my room to be comfortable but a bit shop-worn. Although the bathroom was spanking clean, the layout was tight and quirky (step down to the sleeping area). Lighting could be improved, and the decor in the hallways and rooms could use a fresh-up. Unlike my colleagues who stayed in other hotels, however, I was pleased that no street noise disturbed my rest and there were no real delays with elevators.

Area recommendations

You can't beat Manhattan for dining, hotels and entertainment close to office meetings. But for fun, I always try to get to SOHO. Great shopping, funky restaurants, antiquing and street art.

“BEST IN NYC”

The Algonquin Hotel is class all the way, staff are friendly, and very professional. I would never stay anywhere else. The atmosphere is elegant and charming. The location is perfect and rooms immaculate. The hotel will satisfy your every desire and then some!!

“Excellent location, super cozy and swank!”

I felt the room could have been a little cleaner, but for the price I paid I won't complain much! Amazing location, close to anything and everything in NYC. A few blocks from Grand Central Station. Lovely lounge area, amazing and friendly and helpful staff. I would love to stay here again! Only bad thing....we got 2 twin beds!

Area recommendations

Midtown is a great location with access to the ENTIRE city.
