“Will NEVER go back.”
Pictures on website deceiving. Bathroom smelled of urine. Beds uncomfortable, bedding old and frayed, two pillows provided that were small and flat. Carpet stained and dirty. Considered NOT checking in when saw outside and location of the hotel. Although it was close to boardwalk and beach, it seemed very runned down, dingy and dark. The staff was very nice and courteous. We did have to call them to tell them there were no bath towels in the room.
“Surprisingly spacious - lounge and bedroom!”
Located at the end of this charming town with beach, shops and restaurants within walking distance. Hotel check in was simple and the manager/ owner was friendly, when we came back late and needed milk for tea he went to the breakfast fridge and poured us a cup without hesitation. Our room was large, sofa, chair and side table, tv, fireplace ( although we couldnt get this to work) breakfast stools and kitchen with cooker, microwave, fridge, cutlery, plates etc, Bedroom was nicely done with wardrobe, comfy bed. 2nd tv, Clean and tidy bathroom. Overall decor was good, sort of quaint cottage style. Breakfast was a separate room attached to reception with local information and curios. Several tables and tv Food consisted of coffee, fruit juice, two types of cereals, oats, bagel, toast, English muffins, muffins and Danish pastries. We stopped over for the night on the way from Santa Cruz to Santa Barbara following the coast, good choice for weekends, nice beach and town, restaurants were busy. Sorry, not sure if sofa converts to bed, would be a bonus.
“Cheap, too cheap”
Old looking and feeling old, and not in the nostalgic way. We had to pull our heavy suitcases up to the second floor of this two story building, climbing up bare concrete external stairs, only to get to a room wich had a shabby door with a primitive old style lock, hardly safer than leaving the luggage in the trunk of our car. Breakfast was minimal and had to be eaten in the tiny lobby which had hardly a place to sit in. We survived, but this was only because all we wanted was a room for the night. This is not a place I would like to come back to or recommend to anybody else.
“Great location, subpar amenities”
There are good and bad things to say about this motel. First the good. The location is fantastic. Just a short walk to the beach, boardwalk and wharf. Directly across the street an extension to the Monterey Bay Aquarium is being built that is scheduled to be open early next year. There is a pizza by the slice place adjacent to the motel, and several other restaurants within walking distance. However...the room was very dated and not too clean. Specifically, the mattress and box spring had what appeared to be coffee stains all down the side. The worst part though was the mattress. It almost felt like sleeping on concrete. If you choose to stay, bring your own pillows as theirs were paper thin. If you are just looking for an inexpensive place to stay near the boardwalk, you could do worse. Just don't expect a lot of frills.
“Clean, quiet, good value!”
When we first saw the motel, we were dismayed -- I was sure I had made a mistake in booking a room there. But the room was comfortable and very clean, the young couple managing the place friendly and accommodating, the place surprisingly quiet (surprising because it is half a block from the beach and on a Saturday night). I would not hesitate to go there again.
“Sleeping on a board”
Check-in & check-out was easy and friendly. Hotel is close to the wharf and boardwalk. Room was no frills but clean. My only problem is that the bed was hard. It was like sleeping on a board. The pillows were rather flimsy as well. I was on the second floor and you could clearly hear the next room and things shook slightly when someone walked by on the outside hallway. I'd recommend this motel put an ashtray container, the next morning butts littered the parking lot.
“NOT AS PICTURED ON THE WEBSITE!!! CHOOSE A DIFFERENT HOTEL”
While the girl at the front desk was very freindly the hotel is old, dirty, run down and in a sketchy area. When it says beach view rooms, that is totally a farce unless you are standing on the roof with binoculars. On expedia and the web this looks like a decent place to lay your head and not to expensive. Trust me, pay the extra $20 and stay elsewhere. Thier contiental breakfast was danish in a wrap and old coffee. Nothing else!
“Average stay, average area”
I needed a room for just one night, and the hotel was conveniently located to where I needed to be early the next morning. It was an average room, mattress was a bit uncomfortable. Nice staff, but there was no one in the office when I needed to check out early. I called and someone came right away
“Modest, but well worth the money.”
The staff was friendly. The location couldn't be beat, right near the wharf. Very modest accomodations, but you can't beat the price for the location. It had a mini-fridge and microwave. I plan on using them again.
“Ocean view and hop to the boardwalk”
Enjoyed the room, and the service at the hotel was very nice. I booked two rooms on different dates and she even put us together. Suprisingly we had an ocean view from the second floor. Thank you!
