“Almost as good as watching the Pink Floyd here”
The Radisson Edwardian is built on the site of legendary Manchester political meeting-place and subsequently music venue the Free Trade hall (only the facade now remains). Plenty of political and musical ghosts must walk the corridors, but these days they're sharing the space with a generally-very-satisfied present-day clientele. It's a genuinely stylish and impressive hotel, from the stylish public spaces to the surprisingly groovy bedrooms and particularly well designed bathrooms. On the downside, it's not a perfect location (not far, but not quite near enough to wherever it is you're going), the breakfast had the slightly industrial quality of a rather lesser hotel and it's weird how there are no bedside lights and you have to use the dazzling overhead variety. But on a recent overnight stay everyone was pleasant and efficient, everything worked and at a special Expedia rate it was absolutely exceptional value for money. Mancunian friends told me that more by luck than good judgement I'd chosen the best hotel in town: it's certainly a good deal better than any of the others I've used before.
“Superbly central location and excellent bar/good value for money!”
Despite a couple of minor pieces of damage to the room, this hotel and its services are very worth of a 5 star rating. Its rooms are extremely confortable and tastefully done and overlooks the main central hall so spot on for visiting large events such as concerts/conferences etc. Would definitely go again.
“Sadly didn't live up to expectations”
This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel - the first time was in 2006 and I couldn't fault the hotel then however the standard of the hotel has decreased somewhat. There were some holes in the bathroom wall which had chewing gum in them and the shower was really slow to drain, which resulted in the wetroom being flooded over within a few seconds. The mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable. On the plus size, the rooms are a good size. The reception staff were a bit rude - whether they had a problem with working on the bank holiday monday, who knows.
“Radisson Managed to Surprise me!”
This was a surprsingly excellent Hotel, the staff were helpful, pleasent and very informative, The rooms were very well designed and spacious, the bed was excelent and very comfortable, The bathroom had a dry area and came with a bath and a shower in a seperate wet area. The only drawback was that the TV was not large enough for the room! Anything below 32" is too small and the Hotel TV information system was not working (Room 614). The only complaints I have is that breakfast buffet should really be included and not charged at £20 per person! Also there is no hotel car park and so you are expected to pay £30 per night to park in the unguarded Watson Street NCP car park ( I think the Hotel gets a percentage for telling you to park there.!
“Will return!”
Staff where very friendly and helpful. Beds comfortable, room quiet. Location couldn't be better.
“Would definitely go back”
Room service breakfast lovely, restaurant very nice but quite expensive. Good leisure facilities - the pool was empty when we went and the steam room was great. We were visiting the Lowry during our stay and the taxi rank outside the hotel meant getting there and back was no problem at all. Would stay here again.
“beautiful modern hotel with spa.”
Beautiful modern hotel behind original facade of Free Trade Hall. Very comfortable, spacious room. Enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi particularly after long journey, but would have liked to be able to swim before breakfast the following morning too but unable to as spa didn't open in time. Room was very quiet despite a quite boisterous party going on in one of the public rooms. Good breakfast in pleasant surroundings - choice of full English or continental.
“Manchester's Free Trade Hall Radisson”
We decided to overcome our jet lag by staying in Manchester before heading to Yorkshire. The Radisson Free Trade Hall Hotel is a modern building attached to the historic Free Trade Hall. Only the lobby and restaurant are part of the historic structure, the rest of the hotel is new. The restaurant OPUS is beautiful and our dinner and tea were both delicious. There is a nice pool. The location was safe and convenient. Don't miss the John Ryland Library. We took each of the three free City buses and enjoyed a free tour of the whole city which is very vibrant. Manchester is the "home" of the industrial revolution and we enjoyed learning more about that and seeing the sites. They have recovered nicely from the "moving on" of the textile industries. We would indeed stay again.
“Would definitely go back to the Radisson. Excellent hotel&location”
Two of us stayed over at the Radisson after seeing a show at the Opera House. On arrival we checked in quickly and then we went for a meal in the locality. The location of the hotel was excellent. After the show it was convenient to go back to the restaurant/bar "OpusOne" and this was an excellent place to wind down at the end of the day with a drink. The bar was cozy with a friendly ambiance. The hotel room was comfortable and the only complaint was that the water was very slow at draining from the sink. This was reported at reception on checkout so i can not comment on whether this was sorted or not. The next morning myself and my friend had a spa treatment which finished the overnight stay off perfectly. The spa facilities were clean and proffesional. A lovely treat. The whole weekend was a birthday present for my friend and she was thrilled with every aspect. It is a shame that the hotel does not have a special discounted parking facility as staying for 24 hours turned out to be very expensive.
“Best hotel I've stayed at in Manchester”
Excellent hotel with friendly and professional staff. Check-in was seamless and the hotel location was perfect. I have stayed at numerous hotels and apartments in Manchester and this has been my favourite and the best. Have already booked to go back again.
