Property was in excellent location, walking distance to restaurants, metro and other facilities. The room was small but for the purposes to take a shower and sleep is fine. They should add at least an small refrigerator.

Great value. You get what you pay for. Great location. Clean, relatively comfortable. Comfortable bathroom. Clean. Not much acoustics to reduce noise from drainage and other renters. Overall a good deal for your money.

Great location for a budget accomodation
The location of this hostel could not be beat - it is right in the middle of all the action in Madrid. The mattresses and pillows were very comfortable. Adequate room and bathroom size. The shower has good water pressure. What else could you ask for a budget accommodation? Would definitely stay here again. Be aware, at this time there is construction going on Gran Via Metro station, so you will have to walk 350 meters to/from Sol station to get to this place.

Great value hostel downtown Madrid
Great value accommodation right in the center of Madrid. Nothing fancy but clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Will happily stay there again.

Jerez was quite a good budget option. I booked it seeing it was close to Grand Via metro stop, but the station is closed for reconstruction so if access to metro is a big thing for you, it’d be worthwhile to research to see if Grand Via has reopened.

NO Safety Worries yet in the Heart of the Action!!
For several years now I have stayed at the Hostal Jerez. It’s really nice that they recognize me and always welcome me warmly each time. The Hostal couldn’t be any more centrally located; one can walk just about any place in the city without over-doing. The price is superb; the service is excellent. The rooms are always cleaned, fresh linens throughout, expeditiously. This time I asked for a favor. I am in the midst of taking 3 small trips outiside of Madrid, lasting 9 days total. I didn’t want to drag my huge “30-day” suitcase with me, and I was easily able to negotiate the Hostal’s locking it away for me, while outside the city, for €3 a day. To me, and I think you all will agree, that’s a STEAL for a favor granted. I will continue to stay each visit to Madrid at the Hostal Jerez!!

Only good thing about the hotel is the location. Everything else is terrible. Don't stay here unless you are only going to the hotel to sleep at night. Staff are a bit how you going as well.

Good location, clean hotel, right price
Very clean hotel easy walking distance to all Madrid attractions. Good price. Easy to get to and from both the airport and train station. Some reviews say it is in a sketchy location, but we felt safe walking around hotel at all hours.

Hostel is close to where the action is
This place is close to where all the action is. However, there nothing more that that. The rooms are old and the one we stayed reeked of McDonalds oil when the window was opened, Very basic.

Nice hotel in the heart of Madrid
Hotel is on Gran Via, high traffic area with many shops and restaurants. There are metro stops within a couple of feet, but most sights are within walking distance. The room was a good size, the staff wasn't necessarily 'friendly' but they weren't bad. You have a tiny balcony which is fun to people watch. There is a 'humid' smell that we tracked to the shower curtain which is cloth and doesn't seem to dry properly. Free wifi and 24-hour front desk.

Good value hotel in a great central location!
Very helpful and welcoming reception staff . Hotel is very well placed to explore central Madrid and close to bars and restaurants. Rooms quite basic but comfortable and represents good value for money.

Nice area but terrible room
The city was nice and the people food etc.the room very dissaointed we got a regular room with a gate on the window not the room with the balcony and we should be reimburse for the extra money that we paid or will never do businesses again with Travelocity. We ask a balcony and they have room 720 empty and gave us room 617 with no balcony same as the regular rooms that cost 47 euros. So please get the extra money that we paid for the balcony and reimburse Marisol Rodriguez credit card. Thanks in advance

This turkey a kewl for the price; if u are the type who spends your time out enjoying the city and not need lavish accommodations this is for u . The only down side is it in a beautiful building that is poorly identified . The building has a big 47 . So at least us American are looking for 46 on the other side of the street. You get up to the building and see they are on the 6th floor ! (A bit different). Calling at 1am I get staff who barley speaks english he took me 5 minutes to get him to understand I was at McDonald's trying to find them ... I and they are directly above McDonald's)

NEVER, EVER have been disappointed!!
I always stay at the Hostal Jerez when in Madrid (at least once a year). One simply cannot beat the location or the price. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are well-appointed and Housekeeping sees to it that things are kept tip-top. I really appreciate the in-room safe; I can leave valuables behind and not worry about having them with me on the street or that they will disappear when I am outside of the room. It makes good sense for the hotel as well...with a safe there is no temptation or untoward accusations. Hot water is plentiful whenever a guest needs it. As for locations, a guest is in the "heart" of the city. One can walk to any museum or shopping area or monument, as well as the train station (Atocha). The airport bus is also very walkable. Because there are ALWAYS people on the Gran Via, one has the security of a populated area no matter what the time. Not only are the staff members of the Hostal Alcala at the top of their game...but the various doormen (an additional level of security) have also become friends. I would not consider staying anywhere else!!

Guy working the desk was a total dick. Room was ok, very clean, overlooking the airshaft. Bed was comfy, hotel was very quiet, location was awesome, you could walk to everything. You had to leave your key with the dick at the desk everytime you went out, which was annoying and weird.

The room is just ok. But I really loved the area, it’s in Gran Via I the center of everything. It’s a quick, simple train ride to and from the airport. There are shops and food. This is another place where you get what you pay for so it’s perfect for the budget traveler. Don’t expect 5-Star amentities.

The Hostal is near every thing
Excellent experience, close to Gran via and Puerta del Sol., very clean and comfortable and the managment and all the staff is very good., they help very nice when you ask questions about directions and places to have fun., I had been there for 15 days and was a really very good staying, I recomend everybody this Hostal Jerez, if you want to have a very nice stay in Madrid., and thank to the Hostal Jerez staff for all the attentions they had for me, And for all the Staff of Hostal Jerez, have a nice summer, and hope see you next year.

Hotel was nice, lot to do around it. The only inconveniente was that we were in the 5th floor and had to drop the key every time we went out on the the sixth floor. We had bad knees so going up and down the stairs was a pain

A vacation visit to Madrid
Overall, great. The establishment and rooms were very clean and well-kept, and the staff was generally helpful. 24-hour reception was also a very positive feature. The location is great, central and conveniently reached. The room we had was super small with nowhere to place any luggage. The room given to us had absolutely no view or even light (sun or otherwise) and unfortunately the clanging of stuff in the back yard of a restaurant on the ground floor accompanied every morning, we got used to it. Although the room was labelled as "a double", the bathroom could reasonably hold one person at a time and the area of the room itself was such that most of it was taken up by the bed. The location was superb. Central yet at the start of a pedestrian area. The staff was helpful and ready to explain. All our requests (except necessary basic printing needs) were met. English was spoken. Well done.

Great location - a WIN every time!!
I have stayed here several times. The location cannot be beat--one can walk to any destination they have in mind! And because the rooms are on the 6th floor the noise from the street is almost non-existent (which is saying something for dead-center Madrid!) This time I was given a choice of rooms; it was most comfortable...and I particularly appreciated the two standard-sized pillows on the bed instead of the elongated single one! The staff is always most helpful...even the concierge at ground-level is welcoming and helpful. The price cannot be beat! For those who want some snacks in their room, don't miss the supermarket on the lower floor of El Corte Ingles...and then there's McDonald's (for those who cannot break the habit!) on the ground floor of the Jerez' building...not to mention all of the taperias within a stones-throw. There is an in-room safe...which I always make use of...and if you plan it correctly you put your documents and most of your money in it and do not open it again for the duration (costing only one euro for the single opening). My privacy is ALWAYS respected, whether I decide to "sleep-in" or decide to get an early start. The housekeeping staff is most efficient.
