"Beautiful setting in a limestone gorge with a river flowing through it. Better than a white noise machine! There are hiking and mountaineering trails in the immediate vicinity. As a vegan, I appreciated that they included both a vegan and vegetarian option on the dinner menu. The thermal pools and the baths (balneario) were lovely. Don’t forget your bathing cap! "

As with many Paradors, the rooms were spacious and comfortable, the bathrooms well equipped although dated. Nice decor in the reception area. Car park was reasonable size. Good choices for breakfast. "A fabulous little place, on our way back to the ferry at Santander, but in a remote corner of northern Spain. Around 15 miles off the beaten track and surrounded by gorgeous countryside but only 1.5 hours from the port. We received a warm welcome from our hostess, Karmah, who looked after our every need, supplying local information, as well as cooking us a splendid evening meal. Highly recommend to anyone visiting northern Spain. A proper little rural gem."
