Right next to the beach. We were in La Coruna for a wedding but it was also my girlfriends Birthday. When the checkin staff noticed on her passport we were given a free upgrade to a room with a sea view, very nice touch. The hotel was in good condition and the room was very comfortable, if a little old fasioned. The only fault I could find was the phone to call reception from the room was broken as was the iron that we borrowed from reception, although this was replaced. Wifi was free of charge and they let us have passwords for multiple devices. All in all a very nice stay.
Excellent position 10 minutes walk from the Old Town, and just round the corner from the port on one side, or the beach on the other. The facilities were great, though we did not avail ourselves of the breakfast, preferring to go out to find a wee cafe to have it in. The staff were very helpful and polite, and the rooms were extremely comfortable. I really have nothing bad to say about our stay!
Everything was great, the hotel is two steps from the beach, so it's super easy to go to the seaside, enjoy the smell and the waves and probably even swim (if you're there in the summer). A number of bars and restaurants are close by. In fact, there's a veggie place right next to the hotel.
If you are coming from the airport by bus, it takes about 7-10 minutes to walk from the closest airport bus stop to the hotel.
One day a showerhead broke, I asked for it to be fixed and it was done in a couple of hours while I was out. Rooms were always cleaned while I was out very fast, so if I left and came back an hour later it was all done already. I usually slept well into the afternoon and left at 3pm and while cleaning in the rooms next to mine was a bit loud, I can't really complain, since it was my fault that I was sleeping that late. The air conditioner was really strong: if you feel like it's hot just turn it on and it turns a room chilly instantly.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone visiting A Coruna.
"Decent location, slightly away from "tourist" area"
Hotel is in city centre a short walk from the train and bus stations, adjacent to a shopping mall and El Corte Ingles department store. There are a lot of restaurants around, but it's about a 20 minute walk to the main tourist areas, which might not suit some people - although A Coruna does have a comprehensive bus network (journeys are 1.30 euros each.)
Room was excellent with all the facilities one would want, and the breakfast was outstanding - very wide choice of cold food and drink, plus eggs/bacon cooked on demand.
We needed a short stop over at Coruna to visit a sick friend in the Hospital de Oza. This hotel was perfectly situated. We found the hotel to be exceptional value for money. We are assuming that the price was so reasonable as we were staying over a weekend. We guess that the hotel makes its money from corporate activities, as the value was so good, we are not sure how this hotel could be profitable!
We had food late evening in the Lounge Bar. We found the menu surprisingly good for a Lounge Bar, and the food was excellent.
Initially, We had only booked 1 night at the Avenida hotel as we were due to stay elsewhere further away. Our plans changed and we stayed a further 2 nights. The staff were very helpful and accommodating and booked us in immediately. The rooms we stayed in were very clean and comfortable, with everything you would need in the bathroom, including hair dryer.
The food was fantastic. Best caldo we have tasted. We would deffinately return and recommend anyone to stay there.
Modern hotel totally renovated in 2007, located in the main avenue in a commercial and residential area.More
