“A convienent and comfortable place to sleep -no luxury resort”

The interior of the rooms are a little outdated and I missed having a concierge but the location and room service was good. Just dim the lights and it's fine for a comfortable place to crash in a central location.

Dining
Be sure to try the all-you-can eat restaurant in the Kyoto Yodobashi shopping centre. It's very affordable and such an experience -deep frying your own kebabs, trying octopus salad, and dipping curious sweets into a massive five teared chocolate fountain.

“best choice for exploring kyoto”

Very good location, also 2mns walk from the manga museum. It is an easy ride on the metro or taxi from the main train station. We walked everywhere once we checked in. Good buffet breakfast for a good price. Hotel is close to shopping area with nice designers shops.

Area recommendations
Visit east and central kyoto. Hotel is in central kyoto. Central kyoto is great for site, restaurant and designers shopping.

“Impressed”

Hotel is well located. Very clean. Staff is extremely polite and cooperative. Menu needs to be expanded; need to have more of chicken, lamb and vegetarian meals to suit people from diffrerent parts of the world.

Area recommendations
Travellers should visit Kawaramachi street for various types of food. Gion for shopping. They should checkout the Handicrafts center which has reasonably priced goods specific to Japanese culture.

“Quiet location, adjacent to subway station”

This is a fine hotel in a good location. It is on a quiet side street, immediately adjacent to an active boulevard. The best subway station in the system is just a few steps away from the hotel entrance. This station is at the intersection of the two subway lines in Kyoto, so all sites are a convenient subway ride in either direction. Kyoto is an exceptionally beautiful and historic city, with much to see and do. The hotel staff are very helpful, and the lobby restaurant is quite good, including the breakfast buffet.

Area recommendations
Kyoto is such a beautiful city, it would be hard to pick the ideal location. I would just recommend a location near a subway station, so you don't waste your valuable and limited time in the city. There will not be sufficient time, no matter how many days you spend in the city, to experience all the wonderful sites. Plan ahead!

“Excellent location, comforable bed and good breakfast”

It is located at the intersection of Karasma and Oike Dori. Half a block from Oike subway station (Touzai Line). The room is small, but the bed was comfortable. Air-condition worked well. Breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of foods and quality of food were good. The post office was behind the hotell

“Very convenient, clean but small”

We stayed here for two nights and it was perfect for what we wanted. The rooms are small but the location was good. Great breakfast and free wifi in the lobby. Staff were friendly and helpful and there is a washing machine if you want to wash clothes. Would recommend this hotel.

“Nice hotel in Kyoto”

Ok, it may not be the best hotel in Kyoto, but it's affordable and one block away from the Subway and convenience store. With my wife walked from Gion several nights (some times via Pontocho, or Teramachi Dori) and it was a pleasant walk. The staff is very friendly and almost everybody speaks english. You can find washing machines and dryers in every floor. I would definitely stay at the Hearton Hotel in my next trip to Kyoto.

Area recommendations
If you want to stay in a commercial area: Gion or Shijo Doori (4th Avenue) is the best place. If you preffer some place with good transportation, then near the train station is the best place. But if you want a quiet place, near the commercial area and near the subway (just 3 stations away from the train station), then the Hearton Hotel is a good option.

“Great Location”

Very convenient location. Breakfast was good. For dinner tho, when we went there at 8.45 pm, they wouldn't serve us even tho closing tome was 9 pm. Would be helpful if hotel website provided clear info on how to get there from Kyoto station. As an outsider going there for the first time, would have been good to know which exit to take, etc.

Area recommendations
The temples and shrines - they are quite something - very peaceful atmosphere and impressive gardens. Imperial palace and surrounding gardens which are huge with plenty of neat trails and benches.
Getting around
The one/two day passes are very useful - can get a lot of hopping in and out of buses and subway trains on a budget and cover a lot of ground.

“small room the only drawback of this prime location hotel”

Great hotel for the price and location ( 2 minutes from karasuma oike station which allows you to take both subway lines). Staff was great, spoke some English. Buffet was slightly expensive but worth it for the western style food and convenience. Close to shopping, many restaurants, and running path/river is about 1km away. Rooms (semi-double for 2 people) was very small but have nice clean bathrooms and comfortable bed.
