“Excellent international hotel in Kyoto”
Excellent hotel and services in Kyoto. The location is very convenient closed with the major places to visit in this city. I recommend to rent a bike in the hotel which is an amazing thing to visit Kyoto.
“very good hotel”
advantages are that the rooms are very pleasant and as a bridge to europe (it was our first stop) work excellently; disadvantage is that extras (like breakfast) are clearly over-priced. the hotel is a bit out of the centre (but the metro is next door and it is 2 stops to the centre) and the hotel was very close to the 'philosophers' walk' which is a touristic 'must do'. surprisingly, the internet connection was only so, so. staff was good.
“An enjoyable stay”
Excellent value for the money; comfortable well-appointed room, pleasant staff (in the Japanese uniformed fashion), efficient service. It was a bonus to have a mountain walk from the seventh floor, and to have a subway station a minute away. I didn't eat in the hotel so I cannot comment on the restaurants, though they looked interesting. There are some traditional Japanese rooms available, in pretty Japanese gardens--another excellent attribute of the place. Free shuttle to Kyoto station also. The only downside I could find is that I like to sleep in a cool room, and the a/c had a hard time meeting my wish.
“A perfect Kyoto tourist hotel”
This is an excellent hotel choice for Kyoto tourists. The location is perfect. It's within walking distance to shrines, buses, and subways. The hotel staff is very knowledgeable, extremely pleasant and their English is impeccable. The only downside was that the hotel restaurants are very pricey. But the staff can direct you to local restaurants that are reasonably priced. I feel like I got my money's worth and more from this hotel! I highly recommend it and I would definitely stay here again.
“Great Hotel but room not a typical Westin room”
Great hotel. The killer deal we book via Expedia gave us a functional, comfortable room, but the room seemed to be in a back section of the hotel, down from the more typical fancy Westin rooms. Room lighting was also very dim. But otherwise, a good hotel and good value.
“Kyoto”
The hotel was lovely in every way. The staff was excellent. While not "downtown" it is very short walk to subway station and close to many of the wonderful eastern Kyoto attractions.
“A bit too far out of town”
Inconvenient location and shuttle bus had limited hours. Wi-fi available at a cost (should be provided free of charge).
“Great For the Price I Paid”
I got a huge discount on Expedia, which made this a great deal. The hotel was very nice, but I never would have stayed there for the full price. The room was immaculate and very comfortable and stylish. Unfortunately, the window looked out on the hotel's probably once glorious but now kind of shabby courtyard, rather than beautiful city and mountain view we had from the hallway. My only real complaint was that most of the hotel's amenities and services cost extra--a lot extra (for example, the gym and pool, bicycles, the restaurant, etc.). On the other hand, all that stuff looked really nice; I just didn't have the budget for it. The surrounding area is very nice, and quiet. It was good for sightseeing, but there was not much to do at night without taking a long walk or getting on the subway (the subway is right around the corner, though).
“Nice, but far”
We really like the hotel itself and its staff, but everything is extremely expensive. It was around $20 for a continental breakfast and $40 for the full buffet. They also charge $15 for wifi per 24 hours. Also, the location is not great if you want to try to get something to eat outside the hotel. They have a shuttle to and from the kyoto station and to Ginza, but not back for free so that was good. Overall, I liked it, but not sure I would stay there again because of the location.
“Great Kyoto choice.”
The view and location make this hotel outstanding. Service, including English language, was very satisfactory.
