When you are in this hotel, you feel like you are in a different world outside of Kollam because there is just nothing quite like the high standard and service of any amenity in Kollam like the beach hotel. Some hotel staff don't speak fluent english so you just have to be a little patient. The rooms, the views of this hotel put some hotels the world over to shame - also because of the ridiculosly cheap price (compared to $AUD).
The hotel itself takes on different names with locals which is good to know if travelling by Rickshaw or Taxi to let them know where you want to go. The various names it goes by is "Orchid Hotel", "Beach Hotel" or "Kollam Hotel".
The food is FANTASTIC!!! 5 star dining. The only downside I found was that when the vacancy rate drops, they tend to not turn on the boiler for hot showers so you sometimes have to call the front desk to ask them to turn the hot water on about 15 mins before you have a shower.
The hotel has it's own generator during power outages which is good, sometimes you may notice the power gets cut for a couple of seconds before the generator kicks in.
I'm definitely coming back here next time I'm in Kollam!!! Highly recommended to all travellers!!!
