Fantastic Resort

Posted 13-Aug-2014
The resort is in a private location and it's easy to get to Lamai and Chaweng with their shuttle bus or by taxi. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the Villa and views were incredible and the food delicious. An exceptional place to stay.

Wow - Great hotel, in private bay in Koh Samui.

Pros: Read above - just everything
Cons: They tended to be "too helpful". Ring your unit phone before coming in for turndown and or morning servicing - and if they haven't heard from you or
Location: Continuing from above, too many phone calls when I am trying to relax... but amazing. Koh Samui is small, so everything is close. Try the Cliff Rest!
We all know that Asia can be rather dirty in public places. This place is so far from the reality of Asia it is incredible. Amazingly kept grounds. Wonderful friendly staff. Private concierge who only look after a couple of units, who can do everything from book your trips, to organise a buggy for you, to organise your online checkin & seat allocations for your trips if you want. Nothing was too much trouble. So friendly. Love Thai people, they are so friendly, but these staff were just amazingly wonderful. Food wasn't badly priced. Wine & Champagne is just scary pricing, so consider picking some up at a corner store prior to arrival. Shops & motor scooter hire within a couple of hundred metres of the entrance to the Banyan Tree. Canoe hire, beach, coral, snorkling, three restaurants (Wow, Saffron) amazing breakfasts, rooms re enormous, and each with it's own private pool attached to your bungalow (wet edge) heated spa incorporated. Their spa was incredible. Wow. Do one of their spa packages. Sounds like we should be on commission for them, but it really was that good......... and we have travelled the world extensively & expensively .......... this is in the top handful of ours for indulgent relaxation. Do it.

One of the best beach resort holidays of all time.

I don't usually bother to write up reports but I have to for this one. The Banyan Tree chain is great but the Banyan Tree Samui is a standout for us - incredible designs, incredible food, hosts etc. We will be back for sure.

a truly 5 star experience

Pros: Everything
Cons: Pest control. too many mozzies.
Location: the location is perfect. The hotel staff gave excellent recommendations for local food and entertaiment. Our favourite place is Fishermans Village
the comfort, luxury and service are second to none. a real indulgence with the staff always being one step ahead. you just did not need to ask. Standard of accommodation is exceptional and the food equally as good. This really is paradise.

Awesome

This resort hotel is set across an entire small bay between Chaweng and Lamai beaches with about 80 or more pool villas set in lovely tropical gardens. It's a quiet resort away from the Ibiza like Chaweng with it's own private beach. It's as 5 star as it gets, with huge villas all with their own pools. Golf buggies are at hand to get round the resort which is needed due to its size and the fact that many villas are on the hillside. My only criticisms would be that the style of architecture isn't very Thai....more wood and thatch would have been nice, and it would have been nice to have a pool nearer the beach surrounded by a bar/restaurant. But these are perhaps subjective preferences.

Paradise in Thailand

Posted 05-Feb-2014
Pros: Location, architecture, planning, ever smiling and ueberfriendly staff, birds singing, the Saffron restaurant (at least on one Michelin star level)
Cons: Management is a bit light; staff needs some training on regular base. Buggies (transportation) sometimes coming after long while; spa is overpriced.
Location: Next to Chaweng and Lamai. Muay thai boxing shows in Chaweng are worth a visit as well as buffalo fighting. Otherwise stay in the hotel.
The hotel is spread on the beautiful peninsula close to Lamai beach. It's villas only hotel and they are nicely situated an the hills overlooking the bay with private beach (not shared with other resorts). The resort is relatively new, all facilities in excellent condition and expenses on very good planning and architecture as well as quality construction were not spared. The effect is great: villas are secluded, most having beautiful view, all bordering rainforest. The best are villas on the top of the hills; airy with almost constant breeze and unobstructed vistas. We were upgraded to one of the two top villas, truly great, however the reason for upgrade was my Banyan loyalty card not Expedia Elite which I hold. The hotel was full due to Chinese New Year but management did its best to give us late check out.
