“One night stopover”

“Great value hotel, ideal location for your Thousand Islands stopover.”

The Holiday Inn Express in Gananoque is a friendly and quiet hotel. The reception staff were very attentive and friendly and permitted us early check-in too. They were keen to help us make the most of our stay with suggestions for local activities and restaurant recommendations. The rooms are quite spacious and clean, the air con was effective. The breakfast which was included was simple but wholesome with the usual offerings of bagels, muffins, bacon pancakes and fresh fruit. There was free parking and also free wi-fi internet. The hotel also has a gym and an indoor swimming pool. I would be happy to stay here again and would recommend it as a great value hotel in the Thousand Islands area

Area recommendations

Fort Henry is a great historical excursion, you can even do the paranormal walk in the evening since this is reputed to be Canada's most haunted location. The nearby city of Kingston is also a great place to visit for sightseeing, shopping and restaurants

Outdoors or beach

The 3 hour Thousand Island Boat Trip is great, not too long but you get to find out a great deal about the history of the area. Moreeover there is lots of wildlife to spot. The pretty houses on the islands are a treat to see, how lucky are the people who live here!

“Great start to Holidays”

Had a wonderful stay at Holiday Inn in Gananoque. Staff was very friendly upon our arrival. It was not hard to find. Breakfast in the morning was very good. Rooms were very comfortable.

“Gananoque's gem!”

The staff are very polite, the breakfast had a variety to choose from and according to my seven-year old, "It's the best hotel!" I will definitely go back and I already recommended this hotel to my cousin who is traveling from Italy with her husband.

Area recommendations

I recommend a walk by the waterfront and a visit to the local stores especially Art on Purpose.

Dining

You must order the lobster bisque at the Lobster Trap. Delicious!

“meets expectations”

Outdoors or beach

We have rented a boat for a full day from the nearby SPENCER'S BOAT RENTALS (1000 islands canada). We have spent the day cruising between the islands, or dropping an anchor in the middle of nowhere and swimming around the boat. We also stopped on a small island for barbique. It was a great unique experience for us.

“Girls night in Gan”

I was impressed with the hotel in all aspects. The only thing that I was disappointed with was the closing times of the restaurants in the area around the hotel. It was hard to find someplace to have a good meal after 9:00 p.m.

“Une hotel de qualité sur la route des baleines”

Placé juste avant le traversier qui passe de l'autre rive, l'hôtel est bien situé (il faut marcher un peu pour le Centre ville) et l'accueil est de qualité. Le petit déjeuner est de bonne qualité

Area recommendations

Faire la croisière de 3h en zodiak pour aller voir les baleines : on en voit plus (en nombre et en espèce) et de bien plus près. Très impresionnant et un grand souvenir de ce voyage pour toute la famille

Excellent rapport qualité/prix. Hotel éloigné de l'accés aux berges et au saint Laurent A proximité de l'axe routier, l'interieur, la piscine, le calme ont été trés appréciés
