We stopped in Da Nang for only one night to see a few of the local sites before progressing to Hoi An. had booked from reviews etc. Locality is on the southern side of the river that splits the town so a good walk or taxi to beaches, town precinct etc however we walk a lot so not an issue. Hotel is relatively modern in appearance and full featured.
Upon checking in, we were told we had been upgraded and ended up in a very nice suite room. (thanks Muong Thanh Da Nang Hotel). We walked from the hotel, across the dragon Bridge, to the city precinct and river board walks, then back. had dinner at the hotel as we had walked a fair number of K's and didn't feel like heading out again. Dinner was an experience, with no other guests in the restaurant (mainly we were eating late) so we had 4 then 6 staff looking after us. One spoke English OK the others not so much, but we were able to order and enjoy a great meal with excellent service.
Undoubtedly the best hotel in the centre of town, strategically situated overlooking the river with wonderful views in every direction. Excellent, friendly service and modern, clean and comfortable rooms. Affordable price too, considering the excellent quality. Food is also very good, and room service was much faster than expected (unusual in Vietnam!). I was told the meal might take half an hour to arrive but it actually came in 15 minutes, and was really good. The roof-top bar provides really special panoramic views and has both an open air (windy!) section and an indoor area. The check-out process was fast and efficient too (again, quite unusual in Vietnam). There are other hotels in the city centre, some with similar names, and some friends and colleages have tried them. The Green Plaza is definitely the best.
The reviews we read made us believe this was a great place to stay in Danang. Unfortunately, although the room was comfortable, it didn't have the bathroom we were expecting, and had terrible lighting that made it feel very unwelcoming.
Breakfast was the worst we have had in Vietnam so far: most of the food was gone by 8:30, no service at all (no English spoken). I asked to have some croissants because the buffer basket was empty, the girl said ok when I showed her the basket but never brought any (even after 30 minutes).
The one try highlight of the stay was the pool, which really was nice and has a lovely view of the city.
