“Friendly staff; limited parking”

Stayed 2 nights; good value with Expedia rate; however, parking was extra. Parking space was limited even though the hotel didn't seem to be particularly busy; however we were lucky enough to find a spot out front. Jessica, front desk clerk was nice enough to call our room to ensure we were finding everything after we reentered following a walkabout. We were there for a hospital appointment at IWK. Cab fare was reasonable and saved us paying all day parking and possibly losing spot at hotel. We had breakfast the 2nd morning - decent selection and prices and food was fine. Restaurant offers buffet lunches a couple of days a week. We couldn't schedule to try unfortunately. Hotel is within walking range of tourist attractions (Citadel, harbourfront, casino, pubs, restaurants etc). We would stay there again with favourable rate.

Area recommendations
Primary reason for travel was for surgery of family member. I don't consider this business or leisure. The area within walking range of the hotel has many attractions but we weren't there for that on this visit.

“Amanda”

Surprised by the large hotel rooms. Nice pool area. Hotel location was great. Clean Rooms. AC unit was very old and the pillows we had were not good pillows. Paid parking came to $16.10. I would probably try to find somewhere that had free parking next time and because this lot cannot accommodate all guests and can fill up rather quickly. They allow anyone to park in this lot. Parking in the immediate area is hard to find (Metro Center is across the street) and we came very close to not having a parking spot at the hotel and we arrived before 4:30pm. Anyone who arrived after 4:30pm on this day (it was a metro center game day) would not have gotten a spot. I like this hotel however will probably not recommend it to friends because of the parking situation.

“A nice quiet retreat”

Pleasant staff. Room clean. Appreciated the option to waive daily room cleaning at $5. deduction per day. We only had one meal at the hotel which was a room service breakfast. It arrived on time, food was delicious and the price was very reasonable. The upkeep of the hotel is not perfect because they are demolishing the building soon to build a new facility.

Area recommendations
Historic Properties (approx. 10 minute walk from hotel). Lots of history, shops, museums all in renovated brownstone buildings. Citadel Hill (5 minute walk from hotel) another historic site...fort, museum. St. Paul's Anglican Church..oldest protestant church still standing in North America. Built in 1749. (5 minute walk from hotel) Wonderful restauants and pubs throughout Halifax.

“Not Impressed”

This hotel was way overpriced for the accomodation we received. The fact that we had to pay for parking as well, was absolutely ridiculous. We will not be back and will not recemmend this hotel to our friends.

Area recommendations
The tour of Alexander Keith's Brewery was good, as was walking along the wharf.

“great just not the beds”

Very convenient location, friendly staff but the beds should have been replaced years ago. The hotel is due for some renovations in a few months so I understand that they don't want to put much money into the hotel before the work is done. However I'm not sure the beds will last until then. Otherwise the stay would have been perfect. I've never stayed in a hotel where all of the employees were so friendly.

“Not impressed parking”

The bed was the worst I`ve ever slept on. I was not happy with being charged for parking. I feel I paid enough to stay, I should not have to pay for parking.
