Nice hotel close to public transport

Posted 24-Jul-2015
Pros: Pleasant helpful staff.
Location: City sight seeing hop on/hop off bus. Tourist info centre just across road. Shops close by. No parking in street near hotel.
Steps to reception but if you ring bell staff will rush to assist with luggage. Lifts to other floors. Rooms clean but a bit small. Adequate buffet breakfast in dining room. Morning we departed breakfast delivered to our room as requested 0345 hours. We walked across road to the airport bus only 20-30 minutes travel to airport. Cheaper than taxi if 4 or less in your group.

perfetto week end a Edinburgh

Posted 17-Jul-2015

An old world feel in a modern city.

Posted 14-Jul-2015
Pros: This hotel was well within walking distance of both a bus center and a train station, great shopping and food.
Cons: The rooms were a little warm, possibly from the seasonal humidity, so a bedside fan would have been nice.
Location: in the heart of a beautiful city. Shopping, pubs, restaurants and amazing golf courses are within walking distance or an easy drive.
Staff in the reception area were kind and helpful, the wait staff in the on site restaurant were impeccably polite and very helpful as well. Our room was spotlessly clean and we saw first hand how hard the housekeeping staff worked.

Location ... Location .... Location

Pros: It was all spot on. Location was brilliant, room was good, staff great. No complaints.
Cons: Access from ground floor to reception and size of lift.
Location: This hotel was absolutely perfectly situated for doing everything in Edinburgh.
For location to buses, trams and trains this hotel could not be better situated. Very convenient for the airport as well. It is located on Princes Street with commanding views of the Scott Monument and towards the Castle. It was right in the heart of shops, bars, restaurants and places of interest and the Old Town was a mere stones throw away. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone in a wheelchair or with a serious walking disability because of the small lift plus unavoidable stairs. However that is the only downside of The Old Waverley. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice this hotel was. The rooms were clean, large and airy, nicely furnished, nice bed linen and the bathroom was well appointed with complimentary toiletries supplied. Everything that you could want was in the room. The cleaning staff were very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was good with the chef cooking porridge and some other options to order. There was a perfectly acceptable range of breakfast items on offer so no complaints with the food. The waiting staff were always very obliging and attentive. The reception staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. They had a real "can do" attitude which was great. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and I will certainly be making a return trip back to stay there. Well done to everyone at The Old Waverley because you are all doing a splendid job.
