“Extremely friendly and comfortable stay in the heart of Edinburgh”
We stayed at the Scotsman for a long weekend while getting married in Edinburgh. Having picked the hotel on the internet, we were delighted by the experience and particularly by the warm and friendly staff. My wife and I travel regularly and know what we like when it comes to hotels - we can't fault this one.
“Scotsman Edinburgh”
We were in room 306 - seemingly a luxury room - it was located directly under the bar/restaurant area and thus very noisy. Not worth the price charged. There was also a problem with the hot water on the evening we stayed - there was none. Not an experience worthy of a 5 star rating.
“Would go back again”
The location of the hotel was very central to all city activities making it easy to walk everywhere. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were unusually large compared to other European hotels.
“Very Impressed”
Staff where very friendly, hotel was lovely and had a lovely stay!!
“Great Location -- A little noisy”
Great location -- in the middle of the Royal Mile. Excellent for sightseeing from one place Noisy at night, but that's Edinburgh, not the Scotsman!
“A Great Hotel In A Great Location”
The Scotsman was a great place to stay in Edinburgh; ust off the Royal Mile and North Bridge giving convenient access to both Old Town and New Town. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The room was comfortable. we would definitely stay there again!
“Cheerful and helpful staff. Excellent location”
We will be returning to this hotel. We were in a junior suite so the size was very large for european standards. The bathrooms were renovated. Lovely breakfast. Excellent staff.
“A bit disappointed!”
I was very much looking forward to staying at this hotel. I had heard good reviews in the news media and on other internet sites. I found the physical space, i.e. the hallways and the public spaces to be cramped and a bit maze like. The room I was in was lovely but in July and August it can be a bit warm. My room was very warm to hot with one window that was broken and only a small fan to sort this out. I had to leave all the windows and curtains open all night just to make it through the night. I have to say that I found the young man who checked me in to be a bit rude. I didn't appreciate it when I asked him questions that he rolled his eyes and smirked at the other clerk. The only person who was great was the valet who helped with the bags and the showed me to my room. He was very helpful. I would definitely not return here.
“Unforgettable Scottish Experience”
I have been before in Scotsman Hotel for a quick business trip. On our way to York I decided to sleep over to show the hotel to my Scottish husband. It was even better than the first time. We stayed at a deluxe room (a good deal from expedia). The room had an amazing bay window and a breathtaking view. Everything is very Scottish, what make it an special experience. The staff was perfect, helpful, sophisticated and friendly. The building is a very well preserved old building; it gives you the feeling to be part of the historical city. The location couldn't be better. Easy for Royal Mile and Prince Street. The breakfast was great! Even is you only want the continental one. The only point not so good is that you need to park at the train station. Overall I loved and will come back many times as I can.
“A great hotel for exploring Edinburgh”
This is a first class hotel and we enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and the spa was excellent. Only complaint was some problem with the television equipment, which would not allow access to any BBC TV Channels. I was told this was due to the Digital switch over, but I don't think was the case as it effected both the old terrestial and satelite channels.
