“Perfectly adequate”
Whilst being a dreadful 70's eyesore on the classic skyline of the Hoe, once inside the staff were pleasant and the bedrooms comfy. Supurb loacation. Undergraound car park also 70's so a very tight squeeze 'round the corners in a modern estate car.
“OK But.....”
Lovely staff and great location but we stayed at a very busy time (graduation weekend and a wedding) our room wasn't made up and we had to ask for supplies of coffee etc. At breakfast the staff were so desparate to get the tables cleared for the next influx that our coffee, news papers etc were taken away while we qued for the buffet and a waiter tried to clear my plate before i had finished eating! that being said the roomwas comfortable and clean and the hotel has a lovely pool and gym. If location and a good bed is what you are after then go for it but at the rack rate it would have been outrageously expensive for the standard of service - thank goodness for Expedia deals.
“In a very good location.”
Clean, good sized rooms with all the facilities needed. The breakfasts were good. It is only a five minute walk away from the Sound (the seafront) and the shops and ten minutes away from many really very good restaurants. The only concern that we had the slowness of the staff in the penthouse bar and dining room - more training needed. Compared with the excellent service we had in all the pubs and restaurents nearby they need to do better.
“Successful visit with 93 year old mother”
I chose the Holiday Inn becuase my mother has limited mobility. Excellent disabled parking very near access point. Great views out over the Hoe, especially from the top floor restaurant. Good fish options for dinner. Unfortunately breakfast a bit disappointing and not good value for money (£10). We had room with 2 double beds which was very spacious. Happy to go back again
“Holiday Inn Plymouth Not for Business Travellers”
Unfortuately based on my experience I would not recommend this hotel to fellow business travellers. Check in was quick and the lady very helpful. There is a car park adjoining the hotel and a small charge to park over night. The room itself was clean and comfortable. Although there is free Internet in the rooms there are no cables supplied and I do not carry them with me as most hotels I stay in supply them. Room service did not pick up when called and the pay TV for films in the room did not work and they cannot patch you through once the film has started. I did pass these comments on to hotel management and have been assured these will be rectified in the future. The hotel itself is a short walk from the city centre and plymouth hoe. Breakfast in the hotel was not included in my room rate but there was a wide choice and I was impressed.
“Holiday Inn Plymouth - needs maintenance”
Overall the hotel is fine, and the location for Plymout Hoe and the Barbican is superb. But the hotel is showing it's age and evidence that sufficient money is not being put back into maintenance. Halways, elevators and common spaces showing peeling paint, scuff marks, damage walls and other minor maintenace issues. Overall it is in need of a good re-decoration. Not the level of finish and quality you would find in a Holiday Inn in the US.
