“Perfect base”
The hotel is basic, but nice and clean. We never used the pool but it looked like it would be nice for a dip in the morning! The location is by far the best thing about the hotel as a base for exploring Tarragona and surrounding areas. Plenty of places to eat on the Rambla, and lively markets etc during the day. The bus station is at one end of the street with the train station at the other end (down the steps to the right), providing fairly easy access to airports and Port Aventura theme parks. Tarragona didn't feel too touristy either, which was good!
“Hotel Lauria”
The hotel was very nice and in a great location. It is surrounded by shops and restaurants and a few minute walk from the beach and a Roman amphitheater
“Excellent location and good value”
I have stayed at the Lauria before and always found it OK. The last time I stayed (4 years ago) it was in need of a make-over and this has now been done. The bathrooms have been refurbished and there are other small improvements with the reception area. Staff are helpful and friendly and the location is excellent. Only a few minutes from the old town and close to all the shops and the market. Also it is good value for money. I intend to go again next year as we (purely by chance) hit on the festival of Saint Magi. So much going on, concerts, parades, human pyramid building and to cap it all Tarragona is a great town with fabulous roman remains and lots of culture (the modern art museum is the best I have ever been to).
“Nice location and condidtion of the hotel, but the staff is unfriendly.”
The location is excellent and the hotel has an OK standard seeing to the room only. The staff however was a surprisingly grumpy set of people. Actually, one man tried to help us with the luggage, but he was stopped by a co-worker! The sullen man serving breakfast wouldn't make your day either. I have spent a lot of time in various parts of Spain, and even lived in Spain for a year, but I have never encountered an attitude such as the one i Tarragona (yes, there was some other rude caracters working in restaurants too). I love Spain, but go somewhere else in this wonderful country!
“hotel Lauria a Tarragona”
