Not at all what I expected.

I asked for extra towels and never got them. I wish I had known the hotel was being renovated . I guess you get what you pay for.

Just plain bad.

Staff OK, but the accommodations are horrible. Say renovating but likes run down and being worked. Ceiling was cracked and could use some TLC in the room, lobby and everywhere. Its a motel atmosphere. If you at OK with that and want to overpay maybe you will like it.

Pros: Nothing
the hotel was far from what I The Hotel was very far from the places we needed to go. the phone attendant must not have known Chicago. The taxi ride was 20.00 . That is not 4miles from Northwestern Hospital.

Great location with a nice view of Lake Michigan

Posted 08-Nov-2014
Pros: Close to places we wanted to go. Great breakfast buffet and reasonably priced, at the Lake Shore Cafe!
Cons: Bathroom door didn't close well, no toilet paper holder--it was sitting on top of the tank.
Location: Restaurants in Hyde Park were nearby, museums, Soldier Field, public transportation, enjoyed the view of Lake Michigan
The hotel currently has construction going on. We had two rooms, both had been updated. These weren't luxurious rooms but were clean and comfortable. Easy access to public transportation, close to Soldier Field, nice restaurants nearby. Would stay here again for a short visit (1-2 nights).

Pros: Close to Soldier Stadium
They are remodeling now. The outside didn't look to pleasing but when you got to your room it was not bad.

lake shore, better than expected

Pros: i already described it above.
Cons: my room was across from the conference center. one night there was a party. sound proofing would be helpful.
Location: it's a quick two-block walk to reach the number 6 bus to go downtown to the loop. it's also convenient to the u of chicago.
this hotel is in hyde park, which is a dangerous area, although this particular portion is pretty safe. the outer condition of the hotel looks sketchy beyond compare. BUT the hotel is in the middle of renovating. the room i stayed in was actually quite large, clean, and decently decorated. the faux oil over the desk was kind of janky, but they clearly tried. moreover, i don't stay in hotels for their artwork. the room had an ironing board, iron, coffee maker, free wi-fi, and flat-screen tv. the sink top was some sort of corian. the bathtub was porcelain and the interior tiled. the room was extremely clean. oh, the bed had a wooden headboard (woot! maybe not fashionable, but bed-bug repellent) and bed-bug covers. looks are deceiving. once this place gets a face lift, it will be pleasant on all fronts.

Lake front location

Safe location in high rise residentiial area away from the madding crowd, but an easy commute to McCormick center. Should be even nicertain when renovation is complete and it becomes La Quenta.

Mediocre hotel in transition

Posted 14-Oct-2014
Pros: Location.
Cons: Practically everything else.
When it was the Ramada, this hotel was the only option in Hyde Park - not great, but acceptable. We have stayed there several times. Now in transition to a La Quinta, the hotel is basically a noisy construction site. The room, while beyond enormous, was truly bizarre: the carpets were stained, moldy and smelly; the television was at least 50 feet from the bed (and not much closer to a chair or couch); there was no desk; and construction crews were tromping directly outside the windows, which looked out onto a vast, flat roof, before 8 a.m. on a holiday. The elevator doors were covered with flapping construction tape that briefly glued them shut. The desk clerks were unable to check us in even at 4 p.m. I assume things will be nicer when the makeover is finally complete, but the site should have at least warned visitors of the difficulties.

Disgusting

Firstly it's a motel not hotel. There were cockroaches in the bathtub and hair all over. Super sketch and also difficult to find. I cancelled and paid $80 for a 4 hour sleep at the clarion by the midway airport. Do not stay here, it's not worth the $40 you'll save
