Nice hotel - Good place to stay

Posted 16-Aug-2014
Hotel room was newly decorated, clean, comfortable. Hotel had shuttle to John Hancock and was close to where we wanted dropped off. Lots of good places to eat within walking distance. Food in the hotel restaurant was very good. We had the breakfast buffet and a dinner in the evening. There were six in our party and everyone was satisfied with the food choices. Food was excellent. I recommend this hotel for the dollar value. Free parking is also an added plus.

Hotel was rundown and I was booked into a smoking room when I requested a non smoking room. Walls were thin and I could hear the conversations in the room upstairs. I was charged $25 for incidentals but I couldn't figure out what that could be for. I will never stay there again.

Very old run down...use to be an old ramada inn....first room was not even cleaned, beds not made. Had trouble getting into second room because door had been painted and was badly sticking. Smelled run down. They should tear it down and rebuild because it is on a prime piece of land on Lake Michigan and super convenient for Chicago. Safe area.

Next to Lake Michigan

Posted 08-Aug-2014
Pros: It was right next to Lake Michigan and the bed was comfortable.
Cons: Ensuring everything is in working order. Also somehow get noise installation.
Location: We were in town for a music festival in downtown Chicago. Bus stops and cabs were near by to get us there.
Hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful. The room was just at average. It was clean and the bed was comfortable however it was a bit noisy as the room was right next to the parking. The remote for the TV was also not functioning. It was fine for a 1 night stay where we were only there to sleep but would probably like a nicer hotel for a stay any longer.

Nasty hotel.

Posted 25-Jul-2014
Pros: Fast service in the restaurant.
Cons: everything. this building needs to be scraped, and build a decent one.
Location: The location was sketchy, and the taxis were sparse downtown.
I checked in with my children. I asked several questions, and was told "I don't know." The room and conditions of the hotel was unbelievable. I would never come back to this hotel. The paint was peeling off everywhere, the rooms completely outdated, and the word Ramada told me this hotel was purchased from a run down hotel chain. The service at the restaurant was impeccable. The cleaning staff was so noisy and loud, I could not take a nap or do my work. I would rate this hotel a zero if it was in the category. The bed sheets were awful. The comforter was made out of the cheapest, outdated material. The pillows were too hard. There was absolutely NO concierge or anyone else who knew anything about the area.

Would stay here again in a second!

Posted 25-Jul-2014
Pros: location and price.
Cons: needs a paint job on the outside and maybe a microwave in the room.
Location: Chicago deep dish, museuems, Lake Michigan
The room was significantly less expensive then the downtown hotels. Totally worth it. It is about 3 blocks from the Metra train that takes you into the city. There is a cab stand also on the property. The rooms are nice and big. There is no refrigerator or microwave but we had a cooler so it didn't matter to us much. The pool was nice. The Hyde Park neighborhood is cute with some good local restaurants. I would stay here again in a heartbeat if i was coming back to Chicago.

Hotel undergoing renovation

Posted 24-Jul-2014
Water damage on ceiling. Walls paper thin. Can hear normal conversation in rooms next to us. Had to get new keys each day because each day they were deactivated. When I asked for another key because it didn't work, the hotel worker just asked for which room. They didn't even ask for my name. I could have asked for a key for any room. Not a secure feeling.

what could have been better

Posted 20-Jul-2014
Pros: The price was reasonable for the area, and closer than we thought to museums and other destinations, and the parking helped our travel budget.
Cons: Small things like toilet paper holders, towel racks, and bigger things like a fridge in the room with water.
Location: We walked to the Science & Industry Museum and passed Hyde Park and interesting art galleries. Fairly easy to get and easy access to Lake Shore Drive
Although the hotel is still under construction it was like a new home that had things missing. Toilet paper holder meant the roll had to share space with 4 girls face stuff. No towel racks meant we couldn't re-use our towels. A fridge would have been nice to hold our extra takeout and a bottle of water in same would really have been nice as both vending machines ran out. The bathroom tile and vanity were new and very nice. The staff were all friendly.
