“Great Location”
The hotel is in the best possible location for visiting Historic Charleston, particularly if your main focus is shopping. As is to be expected of a historic inn, the building and facilities are older, but certainly adequate. The housekeeping and waitstaff were great, but the front desk staff, although friendly, were either not particularly knowledgeable of restaurants, bars, or "things to do", or perhaps their lovely manners got in the way of their abilities to express any solid opinions. I would recommend this inn for its convenient location, but do not expect anyone there to help you plan your time.
“Great location”
First off, the location of this hotel is great. The market, retail stores and great restaurants are just a block or so away. We walked to everything we wanted to do. The hotel itself was very beautiful. It was clean and had amenities were nice also -- wine tasting each night at 5 pm and a complimentary newspaper each day on the doorstep. Some negatives: 1) The free wireless is only accessible in the lobby. This is due to the old building (thick walls). 2) The free parking is not really free. While it's true that you don't have to pay the usual fee each time you leave the lot, the hotel will charge you $10 per night for parking when you check out. 3) It was very noisy at night because of the interior courtyard. The first night, we had a very hard time sleeping because of the high-heels stomping around and we woke the next morning to glasses clanging in the breakfast area. A box fan at Wal-Mart solved that problem for future nights. The bottom line is that we liked this place enough to stay again. For what it lacks, it makes up for in character.
“Quaint little hotel”
While the room was a little pokey in comparison to the pictures on the net, the hotel did their best to accommodate the guests at the back of the hotel due to road works being done at the front of the property duringr our stay, which was very noisy. Great location and walking distance to almost everything. Car parking at the rear of the hotel was handy. Jennifer, the Concierge was wonderful! Dinner at Circa 1886 at the hotel's sister property was superb!!
“Nice hôtel, great location”
The hôtel has a great location in the historic city center, rooms have funny king size beds and breakfasts are good. It's a bit expensive but you pay the location...
“Good But Not Great”
The location can't be beat - right on King Street in the heart of Charleston - one block away from the market. And, while the hotel was quite authentic, the room could've been more comfortable. And the staff wasn't as responsive as I would've liked. Wanted a Diet Coke, vending machine was out, and was told that the delivery wasn't until two days later, but if I wanted one really badly I could walk to their other inn. (Huh?) And, kept waiting on a call back from staff about an issue, and I had to call them three times. More attention to updating the rooms, and to basic customer requests would take this "good" hotel to "great."
“great location & charming”
Great location and charming old hotel Rooms small but part to the charm Nice complimentary breakfast and afternoon wine. Breakfast staff were very friendly and happy smilies every morning. Would go back to this hotel
“Unique and Historical”
Room was spacious for the 2 of us, yet cozy. The hotel layout is unique with an enclosed open-air courtyard unnoticed from the exterior. Location places the hotel in the middle of historical Charleston, within walking distance of most everything of interest in Old Charleston. We enjoyed the stay and are looking to return soon.
“Great location and feel”
Kings Courtyard Inn was an ideal location for me. I spent much of my visit on foot. I walked to historic sites, galleries, shopping and ran down to and around the Battery. I enjoyed the feel of my room with high ceilings, an armoire and wing chairs. The room wasn't huge but was perfect for me. My windows faced the courtyard and the sound of the fountain muted most of the sounds of other guests. I could hear no street noise. The parking situation was terrific. I would recommend this place and/or stay here again.
“Great place to say...but food service was lacking.”
This was a wonderful place to say, in the heart of downtown and in a beautiful building that mixed old world charm with modern amenities. The only thing that keeps me from giving it a 5 was the subpar food service. We ate there for each of the three days we stayed (since someone else was picking up the tab) but otherwise I would have gone elsewhere after the first day. Waiters were extremely slow (even for the typically slower pace of the city) -- to the point where some customers were getting up and filling coffee cups themselves because the wait staff never came. The first day my partner's Eggs Benedict were cooked through, not runny as is the norm. We were also not offered any of the free items such as danishes or fruit that are served for hotel guests, even though were paying extra for our meals. On subsequent days we knew to ask for these items that the staff obliged, although the wait was as long as ever for coffee and food service.
“Great location”
Pleasant courtyards. Right in the middle of where you want to be in Charleston.
