“MissLeading”
The hotel looked really pretty from the pictures..like it was sitting in the middle of the river...it was not..the river was to the right of the hotel, but a busy highway was on both sides of the holiday inn. I mainly was excited about the balcony off of the rooms...come to find out, I was told that the balconies were sealed off in each room due to the age of the balconies...what a surprise! I really like having a balcony off of my room..Our king bed was like a rock...so uncomfortable..no microwave or frig in the room as well which was disappointing. The restaurant at the top was nice. The pillows on the bed are half pillows..that's right, half the size of a regular pillow..I asked if they had a full size pillow and I was told no.
“Riverview Holiday Inn Charleston”
I have to say the hotel is alright, and the service was nice for a Holiday Inn. However, during my 4 nights there I got about 20 bed bug bites. I also had a room for the disabled, which was a bit weird because there were items such as a shower chair which I didn't need. If you have a car and are staying for one night, I would recommend the hotel, but otherwise I would seek other accomodation.
“Good choice for Charleston”
Excellent choice - 5 - 10 minutes by free shuttle bus from centre of Charleston saving half the price of downtown hotels (and parking- nightmare). Upgrade to river view worth taking, view sensational. Room very clean and tidy. Only gripe was the fire alarm went off at 5.30 am but when mentioned at the desk both in the morning and in the evening, no one knew anything about it and no one else had complained/mentioned it, which I find very hard to believe.
“We would return”
Convenient to city with shuttle. Decent view of Ashley River and city of Charleston.
“Very nice hotel for a reasonable price.”
Very nice hotel for a reasonable price. You should have a car to get downtown and back in time convenient to you. To pay 20$ for 10 hours parking downtown (evening after 6 pm is free) is still cheaper than a comparable hotel downtown.
“OK”
Not crazy about round hotels. Elevators worked well. Bar on top floor gives great view of city, etc. Room was clean but walls may be a little thin. Problem at check-in: it was raining, I was on motorcycle & cars were left unattended for extended time out front under the canopy. Seems people checking in were taking luggage up to room & not returning promptly to move cars in a timely matter. Hotel should have someone out front to keep this from happening.
“OK Stay”
We were disappointed that the balconies were closed and locked shut, also no frig in room. It was a bit pricey for what we got. Probably will stay elsewhere when we go back. Staff was excellent

Desk personnel were courteous and friendly. Got us checked in immediately and on time. View from the top of the Hotel is worth the stay!
“Great Views, Tremendous Restaurant!”
Great job with renovations, restaurant was great, service from the entire staff was great, great stay, wish it could have been longer!
“I'm ready for a repeat!!!”
We stayed on the 8th floor facing the city, the views were awesome. When we checked in the employees' were very friendly and helpful. We were able to leave our car at the hotel and ride their shuttlebus to the downtown area and then ride the free trolleys around town. We didn't get a chance to eat in the top floor resturant but the menu looked great. The next time we go to Charleston we will be staying here again!
