"Room was a mad bargain at under £70 including breakfast.
The site is substantial and well maintained, in a charmingly rural quarter.
Quick and friendly check-in. Chucked bags into room and immediately came down for dinner. Nice 2 course meal was filling, one noticed excellent fittings eg flooring etc in the 'Nookery' restaurant.
In bar, my pint bottle of local Liberation beer was modestly priced at £5.40. Kenyan barmen good fun. There is a piano in the bar but I didn't play it. Also it is a yob-free zone, an important consideration these days. Met a nice fellow from the North of England who amusingly explained some details of how people conduct themselves in that area of the land.
Good bed: hot shower: quiet room, with views of landscaped grounds.
Breakfast a cut above average with poached eggs & salmon.
Looking round the hotel one can see interesting naval-themed photos, models and portraits.
Free transfer to St Helier laid on too!
A huge amount on offer at this price level, and will seek a chance to stay again."
