Lovely hotel, room excellent, wi-fi hit & miss

Posted 17-Jul-2015
Pros: Comfort
Cons: Not really
Location: We only stayed 1 night as we were on a business trip so didn't get to see a lot.
Really enjoyed my stay. Room was a bit too hot at night but it was summer, I couldn't open a window. Drinks in the bar downstairs were reasonably priced. The staff were lovely and friendly. Would recommend this hotel. Must point out that it can be difficult to find in the dark.

Always get a friendly welcome from the moment you arrive - staff are efficient and look after you. I have to say one of the best hotels I have stayed at in the UK

Beautiful hotel and stunning surroundings

Posted 15-Jul-2015
I stayed here on the 13th July for a chill out break as a single lady on my own Everyone I met was both helpful and friendly. The spa was great. Breakfast lovely. Left my car in the complimentary car park. The free shuttle bus runs regularly all over the resort. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay. This hotel has something to suit everybody.

Not impressed for a 5* hotel

Posted 08-Jun-2015
Pros: The grounds.
Cons: Showers, staff attitude, new mattresses.
Location: Plenty to do on resort but you do have to pay for everything.
The hotel and the grounds were lovely, everywhere was spotless. The room was spotless but on the small side as a family room. The shower did not seem to work properly either that or they have the water set far to hot, i could barely stand the hot water and I like a hot shower, our daughter wouldn't have been able to have a shower - luckily we were only staying a night. The beds weren't very commutable, maybe they should think about renewing the mattresses. The staff seemed to look down their noses at us. On check out we were billed £309 for our room even though the price quoted on Expedia when I booked was £231, I queried it and showed them my Expedia booking on my phone, the receptionist said to me that no way should I have got a room for that price, he repeated this 4 times shaking his head at me and then paused looking at me, I stayed silent and then he said 'on this occasion i'll alter it.' I felt like I was supposed to be grateful to him for doing me a favour. I would't stay there again, I've stayed in much better hotels for much less money. Not enough lifts, we waited about 10 minutes for one, 4 times our floor number showed and it dinged but the doors didn't open and it moved onto another floor immediately. For such a huge hotel more lifts would've been good.

Dated but ok

Posted 28-Apr-2015 on Hotels
We had a dulux room, Room was very dated and worn. For example there were stains on the chairs and damage on the table. There was even a sticker left on the TV screen that a child must have put on there. Service at the hotel was good and bars where a nice place to be. It was busy when we stayed and we were not able to get a book a restaurant in the hotel other then the buffet. Spa was good for us as long as we avoided the family times as screaming kids are not relaxing. Had a good stay but would not return unless there was a good deal.

Pros: friendly staff, clean room, good facilities
Cons: In the sauna: sitting mats should be provided as benches are too hot
Very nice hotel, friendly and helpful staff. However, 1) free parking is far away from the hotel 2) had to wait to order a coffee for a while, slow working staff in the coffee place
