Good hotel close to the town centre

Posted 03-Nov-2014
Pros: Location and character
Cons: Some areas need decorating to freshen them up.
Location: Right on the edge of the town centre - excellent underground car park across the road - all the things that Bruge has to offer within walking distance
Great location, good facilities. The only blot on the landscape was the late cleaning of the room on our first day. We had been out and about and returned to the hotel in the late afternoon, (approx 17.00) to find that room service had not yet cleaned the room - beds not made, dirty cups etc. Everything else - spot on.

Great location, friendly staff

Posted 22-Aug-2014
Hotel is only 10 mins walk from the train station and 10 mins walk to the city centre. Check in was easy and staff were very friendly. The room itself was good, we were surprised to have 2 double beds, one each! Cleanliness was pretty good although one of our coffee cups hadn't been cleaned from the previous guest and the bathroom could have done with a bit of bleaching between the tiles and bottom of the shower seal. The room was pretty quiet although like any hotel you hear doors opening and closing all through the night and inconsiderate guests talking loudly whilst walking through the corridors. We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on the quality of the food. Overall we had a great stay and would love to come back.

Good location but nothing special

Posted 18-Aug-2014
We had booked a king size bed but we got twin double. A little difficult when you have a child that needs to sleep between you. When I asked this is not what we booked they said they are fully booked. The room was not clean, the bathroom basin water was blocked, I asked if they can join the bed, clean the room and fix the bathroom but none of was done. The next day the room was not made up till 4pm, it is crazy. When I complained they moved us to a suit which was superb, very clean and comfortable unlike the first room we had. The staff are not helpful but the general manager was great. Very good location, the suits are very good but standard rooms are disappointing.

Comfy, good location

Next time I'll ask for a garden view room as the "Klokstraat" is noisy at night.

Used to be one of the best hotels in Bruges

Posted 14-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
This used to be one of the best hotels in Bruges and many of the longstanding staff (particularly at reception) remain excellent, but it seems to be gradually going downhill and the rooms need refurbishment. They remain spacious, but we will now be going elsewhere when we visit Bruges. If the chain who now own it (NH) could be encouraged to invest more, it could be restored to its former standard. NB: The hotel's parking is in the nearby underground PUBLIC car park.

comfortable hotel with gardne

Very quiet and convenient. Especially liked the walled garden with lounge chairs in shade and sun. We spent afternoons in the heat under the shade trees in the walled garden. Large room.

Great trip to Bruges

Posted 10-Aug-2014
Pros: Cleaniliness and friendliness!
Cons: Price of breakfast!
Location: Definitely do the Belfort (366 steps) and we also loved the Frites and Chocolate museums. Also check out the Rose Red cafe/bar - brilliant!
This Hotel is deceptive - looks decidely average from outside opposite bus station but inside it is welcoming and well furnished. Staff were very friendly and helpful letting us leave our luggage both before checking in and after checking out so that we could enjoy Bruges. Room was very clean and comfortable - good value for money! My only criticism is that the hotel breakfast is too expensive but we found excellent breakfasts in easy walking distance which were half the price - Patisserie Prestige and The Gingerbread House - both superb. The Hotel is well positioned for easily walking into the City and the proximity of the bus station was useful for getting to the Damme ferry (highly recommend this trip!)

Excellent location - close to train station and also main shopping streets. Option of late check out on Sundays is brilliant and makes the last day of the weekend much more comfortable - if going for late train/flight
