Simple clean central hotel with a homely feel.

Posted 18-Aug-2014
Pros: location and ambience
Cons: not much except perhaps the decor in the rooms
Location: everything is very close and the street is very quiet
This is a simple hotel in a quiet street in the middle of Bruges. Our room was in the eaves, with a spotless shower room. The decor in the room felt a little old fashioned but there was lots of space and the beds were comfortable. The hotel only has a handful of rooms and is converted from an old house with lovely original features. The basement comprises a pleasant lounge and breakfast room. The breakfast was a great variety of foods buffet style but no toast as apparently the toaster sets off the fire alarm.! There is a small seating area in a courtyard at the back.

Initially the hotel was difficult to find, however, it is in a great location and an easy walk to everything! Very friendly staff and a good breakfast provided each morning.

Pros: Very quaint and clean
Cons: In the summer electric fans need to be provided in the rooms
Location: Everything you would want is very close by.

Friendly staff and helpful. Continental style breakfast with a good choice of meats, cheeses and egg. Room large and comfy. We could not fault the position of the hotel so close to the Burg and Markt. As traditional buildings do not have lifts the stairs could pose problems for some. Overall though a lovely stay in Bruges. Would stay there again.

Excellent little hotel

Posted 01-Jun-2014 on Hotels.com
The Malleberg is a great little 3-star hotel and it was everything I wanted for my stay in Bruges. The place is very clean and has very good bathroom facilities. The rooms are reached up a staircase with, in places, fairly narrow treads - we'were on the 2nd floor and we needed to take the stairs slowly. The rooms were large and the beds were comfortable. There's TV in every room showing local channels - some subtitled. The breakfast room was a lovely stone-ceilinged cellar and the continental breakfast was very good, offering a good selection of food. Definitely a place I recommend if you want a central, friendly, comfortable place to sleep.

Nice location and clean

Not far from the center of town, small bed and breakfast. Nice breakfast and the people were accommodating regarding luggage storage. Second floor stairs weren't too bad by European standards.

Great Location in the Heart of Bruges

Posted 13-Oct-2013
Pros: 1. Free Breakfast Buffet 2. Large Room Size 3. Great Location!
Cons: 1. No Elevator - only stairs 2. Front Desk Reception is only open from 10 AM - 10 PM
Location: Visit the Bell Tower, Market Square, Burg Square, Groeninge Museum and Begijnhof Eat at Chef Arnout for Delicious Waffles!
This is an excellent hotel if you're planning on traveling and staying in Bruges. Located 5 minutes away from Market Square, it really is very easy for you to see all that Bruges has to offer! Our group was able to walk to all of the major sites in Bruges, including the Bell Tower, Market Square, Burg Square, Groeninge Museum and Begijnhof. Since the hotel was so close, we even had time to go back to the hotel for an afternoon nap! Other Pluses: 1. Free Breakfast Buffet 2. Large Room Size 3. Great Location! Things to Keep in Mind: 1. No Elevator - only stairs 2. Front Desk Reception is only open from 10 AM - 10 PM Overall, a great hotel!

Pretty Good Stay

Posted 10-Sep-2013 on Hotels.com
I booked this hotel based on good reviews and it did not disappoint. Malleberg is a cute little hotel in the center of the town, 5 min from Markt, and 2 from Burg Sq. right on the edge of all things Brugge. The hotel was old-fashioned, owned by a family. You ring the bell, Nice people checked you in. You were given a key. You walked up the narrow stairs to your room which was homely decorated with simple & basic stuff - nothing fancy. Breakfast was included in the deal, even though we did not get to eat it - 8 to 10am only. Overall, It was a pretty good stay. Nothing to rave about but no complains either.
