Beeaaautiful!

Posted 24-May-2015
Pros: The staff is well-trained and the grounds are lovely.
Cons: Front-Desk staff could be a little more helpful. Their Manager is fantastic as is the Concierge and bell staff.
Location: The Hotel is located on the hills above downtown Bath, providing a breathtaking view of the countryside with incredible gardens.
This hotel is a beautiful spa. Although it sits high on the hill above Bath, it is conveniently located on the 'Hop on' bus line that takes you into downtown. Axel, the General Manager, is excellent and the staff are well trained. We had a few snags but they all worked quickly to make corrections. I would not hesitate to stay in this beautiful property again.

Good relaxing base for a trip to Bath

Posted 04-May-2015
Pros: Spacious and airy with fitness centre
The availability of the gym and swimming pool made it a good base to relax in after a day sight-seeing. The 1812 overture, with cannons and mortars firing off, and also the final to Beetoven's Choral symphony, is probably not the best choice for background music at breakfast!

Lovely stay, lovely breakfast, lovely spa. room was too hot at night. Had to request s fan at 3am. Pillows were too puffy that they were almost flat to sleep on, had to keep rearranging.

Lovely, relaxing spa hotel

We really enjoyed our two night stay. Excellent spa facilities and great breakfast. Nice molten brown toiletries and super soft towels! Staff very helpful and courteous. Pleasant 10 minute walk into centre of town. Only reason not rated 5* is because room decor is a bit tired and dated, needs a refurbishment to make it truely 5* hotel.

5 stars? Fell way short of the mark.

Posted 27-Apr-2015
Location: Only 10mins walk into the centre of Bath.
The staff were generally nice, check in was good, chatty, almost fun. I've only stayed in a couple of 5star hotels and all my previous experiences have been amazing, so expectations were high I guess. Returned to the hotel on Friday night and went to the bar for a quick drink... £21 for 2 whiskeys?!!!? Really? Arrived for breakfast at 9am and our order was promptly taken. By 9:45 our food has still not been served. When it was finally served it was missing some of the items we ordered. Woofed food down proper quick because we had to be in the spa for 9:50. Arrived there to find everyone wandering around in a bit of a daze because the computer system was down and they couldn't confirm who was booked in for what. Apparently it had been down since the previous day which in my book (I work in I.T.) is totally unacceptable. My treatment at the spa started half hour late... the didn't appear to be enough staff on duty. So this then put the rest of the day a bit behind schedule. Everyone has a bad day, granted, but Saturday morning it seemed like the entire hotel was in "can't be bothered" mode with nobody really that fussed about things not happening and nobody around to take responsibility or keep us informed of what was happening. Given the choice of this place and the Premier Inn, next time I'll take the Premier Inn!

Excellent Anniversary Stay

Posted 21-Apr-2015
We had a wonderful 3 days at this hotel. The management kindly gave us a lovely hand written note with a bottle of bubbly as well. We felt very well accommodated and the hotel is only a brief 10 minute stroll to all of the major sites. Very pleased with the whole weekend!

Excellent stay in beautiful Bath!

Posted 16-Apr-2015
Staying at MacDonald Bath Spa last weekend was a real treat. The hotel is beautiful inside and out and the staff are very helpful. The room was spotless and the food excellent. We were also upgraded to a superior twin which was a lovely gesture and my 40th birthday was acknowledged with chocolates. Two points to note on the downside - the check-in time was stated as 15.30 with check-out being 11am the following day. This means that you don't get a full 24 hours use of the room which seems unreasonable for the price you pay. Also the breakfast was not included in the room price and we paid £19.00 for this. Even though the hotel is 5 star one, I think £19.00 for breakfast is very expensive. I think it reasonable to have had the breakfast included in the price of the room or, failing that, we could have ordered from the a la carte menu as we certainly didn't eat £19.00 worth of food.
