"I booked this lodge via VRBO as a mini break for my birthday with my 8 year old son. The VRBO website clearly stated that the lodge had a private hot tub, as did my booking confirmation. However, upon arrival I discovered that there was NO hot tub. The actual lodge was lovely but VRBO mis-advertised the property. The lodge was on a holiday park and the reception staff advised that this happens at least once a week with either VRBO bookings or another booking site I’m not allowed to name in the...

"A great place to stay and a fantastic location for us , as it was very quiet and secluded. Checking out at 10am on departure day was not ideal , 12 noon would have been better. Booking through VRBO was a big mistake as they listed the lodge as having a Hot Tub , when in fact it didn’t have and the reception here could only apologise , as there was nothing they could do to help , because all the lodges were fully booked."

"I could live here! The lodge was close to the entrance, but in a cul de sac, so felt really secluded. Used the hot tub daily, the water was checked twice daily, so felt very confident it was clean and safe. The food in the restaurant was excellent and had a superb Sunday lunch. My partner had the chicken wings as a main, coupled with roast potatoes, an odd choice, but one they were happy to cater to! Couldn't fault the staff, they were all welcoming, friendly and helpful. "Week away at this superb lodge. Excellent views and fantastic getaway location. Not too far from lovely scenic walks but far enough to feel away from it all Lodge had everything we needed and more. It was just a shame we didn't get chance to make use of the barbecue Bassenthwaite Lake Station a must do, the breakfast on the static train carriage is amazing. Buttermere lake very special place"
