Bijou room but so charming and comfortable

Posted 09-Sep-2014
Pros: Fresh fruit and milk in the room. Lovely soft towels.
Cons: The entrance to the car park was very narrow and not accessible by anything larger than a car; not something that can be improved due to buildings
Location: As we were only there for one night we didn't discover much of the location but a nice little town, was like stepping back in time.
Perfect overnight accommodation en route to the Great North Run. The room was compact but lovely and clean with everything provided, including real fresh milk in the fridge! Bed so comfortable and had a peaceful slumber, much-needed prior to my run! Breakfast catered for all tastes; fresh fruit, cereals, full English, etc and my porridge was perfect served with fresh cream and syrup, yum! Andrew was a very hospitable host and I would highly recommend his charming guest house, not just as a stop-over but as a base to explore the local area.

I was very well looked after there were all the lovely little thoughtful things provided in the bedroom even a bowl of fruit and fresh milk in the fridge. Excellent cooked breakfast with all the trimmings. I would certainly stop there again and hope to next year. Everywhere was extremely clean

Great base for walking.

Pros: Dressing gowns, iron and board, and even a tea-towel to use when ironing.
Cons: Very Small bathroom.
Location: Close to Low Force.
Excellent B&B. whilst the rooms were compact they held everything you could wish for. We had a superb meal one of our nights. My friends said they would be very happy to return there.

A little disappointing

Posted 08-Jun-2013 on Hotels.com
We had a similar problem to previous guests re wet boots. Upon arrival we asked for the drying room as our boots were soaking wet. We were told to leave them in the conservatory. Next morning boots were still wet through. Sounds like I'm just having a little whinge, but wet feet for the whole of the next day was no fun. Also the tv was on a fixed wall bracket so there was no way you could watch it. Having said all that the bed was comfy, the breakie nice and building well presented

Brunswick House - Middleton in Teesdale

Posted 26-Mar-2012
Pros: Nice location in an old house by the side of a small river
Cons: Rooms rather small but this is result of age of the house
Location: Ideal location in Teesdale, not far from High Force waterfall and from Barnard Castle with its excellent Bowes Museum. Great area for walking.
The hotel is in a pleasant village called Middleton in Teesdale and the house itself is about 250 years old so the rooms tend to be on the small side. The room we had was en-suite and the shower and other fittings were quite new and very smart. We had a meal in the hotel on the first evening and the food was excellent in quality and preparation. The village is an ideal location for walking and exploring the area and there is much to be seen round about.

My wife and stayed one night and would like to have stayed longer. The owner was welcoming and attentive; the bedroom was comfortable and in excellent decorative state; the breakfast was excellent - cooked to perfection. .
