“Lousy night”

It was very hot in the room, and airconditioning didn't work. We complained at front desk and Staff told us that after October they shut it down, so we had to open the windows! However just outside of our windows there were drainage pipes, which made so much noise! So whenever somebody in the hotel used the bathroom, we woke up! Terrible night!

“Very nice hotel!”

We stayed at the Silken Hotel November 10 - 12, 2011. The hotel's location, off Las Ramblas, was perfect - nice and quiet yet very close to EVERYTHING! The beds were super comfortable! We would definitely stay there again, as well as recommend it to others.

Area recommendations

We stayed off La Rambla, which is very close to Plaça Catalunya, a large square in central Barcelona that is generally considered to be both its city centre and the place where the old city and the newer meet. We ate at Cafe Viena, a local restaurant (around the corner from our hotel) that has delicious sandwiches (iberic flaute?!). We also ordered a two-day ticket online for the on-off tour bus which was great . We DEFINITELY recommend going to see the Sagrada Familia, which is simply amazing and a must see while in beautiful Barcelona.

“It was just OK”

We stayed here one night only post-cruise. The staff are very nice and the hotel has some beautiful architecture/design, but it's time to replace all the carpets and the lounge furniture, There was an odor we just couldn't get past and I think that it's like a febreeze or some kind of coverup to freshen up the stale furniture/carpets that hits you as soon as you walk in....I could even smell it or something like it on the comfortor and that just wasn't working for me.....I just didn't want the blanket on me and I didn't sleep well because of it.........in fact we got up and left early for the airport rather than hanging around. It was not as nice as the pictures so it was a little disappointing....but If they would just attend to replacing the carpet/furniture and eliminating the odor, it would greatly improve the experience as the rooms are a good size, the beds/pillows are pretty comfortable and location is also very good in relation to Las Ramblas and restaurants. Overall, I've stayed at worse so but I would give this hotel a 3-star rating.

“Difficult to compare”

We felt the location and hotel service were very good although it is difficult to compare since this was only hotel we stayed at while in Barcelona. The hotel service was very good and they have a fantastic hotel roof top area if you want to enjoy a glass of wine while viewing the city. Nice little resturant next door.

Area recommendations

I would recommend that anyone visiting Barcelona take advantage of the "hop on hop off" bus tours. It's a great way to see the city and understand the history in a short period of time. Plus it allows you to get off and see things at your own pace.

“Great Location”

Our stay was very pleasant. The front desk personnel were very friendly, helpful and fluent in English. The hotel was convenient to Las Ramblas and walking distance to many sights and restaurants. The inroom toiletries were nice. The rooftop area could be improved.

“Great city, great location, nice people”

Great location right off Las Ramblas, interesting lobby, unique decor. My complaints would be poor air conditioning system, worked, but very low and slow to cool off, hotel had a great overall look, but my room had a broken end table and their were stains on several spots of the hall carpet. Overall I think this is more a 3.5 than a 4 star hotel. Also if you are a television wathcer, there were only news channels in english.

“Location Location Location”

The best part of the hotel was the location. Hotel seemed a bit run down and had mold built up in the shower. The staff was very pleasent however were not helpful in directions to area businesses or the airport. Besides a great location this hotel did not offer much else.

“Average hotel in a great location”

We liked the hotel overall but it is not four stars! The beds were terrible. The room was dark but clean. We picked an interior room so that it would be more quiet and that worked out for us. The location was great. I think the price was a four star price for a three star hotel.

Area recommendations

La Rambla is a vibrant area with lots to see and do.

“Very happy”

Hotel was in excellent location just off Ramblas so easy to get to restaurants & sites but very quiet street. Short walk from airport bus drop off
