“Great hotel, although the location could be better”
My girlfriend and I stayed here during a trip to Barcelona for my 40th birthday, and were very impressed with the hotel. The area in which it is situated is not the best, as it is somewhat run down and industrial, but we didn't feel unsafe. It is only a two minute walk to the nearest Metro station (Bogatelle) from where frequent, clean trains run every few minutes to the city centre, although the corner at which the Metro station is located always had an unpleasant smell! The hotel's leisure facilities have been newly renovated, and we took full advantage of the excellent spa pool with its high pressure water jets. The reception and bar area was of a very high standard and the drinks prices reasonable for Barcelona. Front desk staff were welcoming and helpful at all times. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to other travellers.
“Great hotel in a great city”
Don't be put off by the slightly down at heel look of the area when you walk to the hotel from the Metro, it's actually safe and well located for the beach as well as easy access to city centre. Staff were excellent and restaurant food lovely. Breakfast croissants with hot chocolate in the bar and late night snacks both to be recommended. Definitely recommend staying here.
“Good choice of hotel”
This is a very good hotel. It is a 10-15 minute walk from the Port Olympic and beach area and only a few minutes from a Metro station. The receptionists were multi-lingual and extremely helpful. The general area initially seems industrial but there are a few bars, eating places close by and a few discos / clubs.One of the best music clubs in Barcelona 'Razamataz'is on the next block. Cannot comment on the breakfast as in our case this was not included but at 12 Euro a bit expensive but typical for hotels in Barcelona. it is best explore and try local bars/cafe. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay.
“Very clean hotel rooms”
Clean hotel with comfortable beds, good breakfast (can't say the same about the bright yellow painted walls tho) Good location from the Bogatell metro we got of at Jame I stop right into Gothic area which we loved, easy level 15- 20 min walk to Port Olympic beach and resturants icebar etc, had no problems with noise as some reviews said, lovely Tapas bar opposite hotel, but expensive rip off restuarant few doors down, surrounding area is up and coming. We were a group of 5 couples who enjoyed our stay at Pere IV.
“pleasant hotel but disappointing surroundings”
An oasis in a run down semiindustrial area. Hotel comfortable and well maintained; staff helpful and courteous; good value for the facilities provided, surroundings very dreary but (very efficient) metro within 5 minutes' walk
“OK BUT NOISEY AT WEEKENDS DUE TO NIGHTCLUB NEXT DOOR CLOSING AT 5AM”
FEMALE STAFF NOT PARTICULARLY HELPFUL. MALE RECEPTIONIST WAS EXCELLENT, VERY HELPFUL. KEPT AWAKE BY THE NOISE OF THE NIGHTCLUB NEXT DOOR WHICH STAYED OPEN UNTIL 5 AM ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY WE ONLY HAD A DECENT NIGHT'S SLEEP ON SUNDAY BEFORE RETURNING HOME. NO TEA MAKING FACILITIES IN ROOM - CHARGED EXTRA. SATELITE CHANNELS LIMITED NO NEWS CHANNELS ONLY SPANISH SPEAKING. LOCATION OF HOTEL WAS OK BUT DID HAVE THE ADVANTAGE OF BEING NEXT TO A METRO STATION.
“Good for a budget”
The hotel was all right, although it was not a 4 star hotel standard. First night was a bit noisy, although the shut windows really do keep a considerable amount of noise out. The room wasn't very clean (but not dirty) with mould on bathroom and corridor ceilings and leaking soap mark in the bath... The view was inexistent - there were other rooms right opposite and a glass ceiling above (not much fresh air...) and the room really dingy and dark. The location ok if you are in a bigger group, generally not very welcoming area (with a prison nearby and a number of heavy metal and hard techno clubs). But near the beach and not far from centre and the tube. Generally, not the worst one I've stayed in, but if you are amazed at a price for this 4*, don't be - the price is too high, if anything.
“Reasonable value”
+ Good price compared to other hotels considered. + Common areas of hotel attractive and well maintained. + Friendly staff. - Inconvenient location, frequently had to take taxi. - Room dark, as window only out to atrium. - Have to pay extra for use of swimming pool/spa/fitness, only told this on arrival. - Have to pay extra to have tea/coffee making facilities put into the room. Overall: realised location was inconvenient, hence price compared to other options, but overall would have expected more of a 4 star hotel.
