“Unfriendly staff, dirty.”

There was grit and dirt on the floor and dust on everything from the lamps shades to the night stands to the cupboard shelves. The pillows were old and lumpy. The only positive was the location.

“Nice hotel centrally located”

This is a charming, older hotel that has been tastefully updated. We got both double and triple rooms that were spacious to accommodate our family of five; however, we did see some rooms that were tiny. The staff was friendly, the rooms clean, but the hotel breakfast wasn't that good. There are plenty of little cafes and restaurants nearby, though, so I would recommend eating elsewhere. The most annoying thing is that the hotel charges by the hour for use of the internet. They also take a deposit to use the TV remote. Aside from that, the location is excellent, especially if you enjoyed "Shdow of the Wind". It's an easy walk to anywhere in the center of the city, and convenient to the metro and the bus that takes you to and from the airport, which is significantly cheaper that taking a cab.

Area recommendations
The Paseo de Gracia (or Passeig de Gracia) and the Ramblas locations are centric to the areas one would want to visit; however, the Gracia area is more upscale and a lot quieter. The Nouvel Hotel is toward the top area of Las Ramblas and close to Plaza Catalunya, the city center, which is why we chose it.

“too basic”

the hotel was too basic, there was no hotel info in the room. there were no tea making facilities in the room . there was no signage in reception to direct you to other areas of the hotel.the best part of the hotel was the location and the tapas bar opposite.

“Excellent location / value for money”

A fantastic location just off Las Ramblas - everything was within walking distance. Our room was very clean, serviced properly each day and the bed comfortable. Only downside was the tiled hallways which meant echoing noise from other guests - but this tended to be in the mornings with people getting up early to check-out. Lack of free wi-fi was disappointing, though you can access it for a small cost.

“Excellent location and friendly staff”

This hotel was more than I expected. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Catalunya Plaza but very quiet. I would certainly stay here again when I go to Barcelona.

“Pick pockets”

“Decent hotel for La Ramblas.”

Rooms were clean, and location unbeatable, but loud guests with no sound proofing can make for some frustrating nights, but otherwise it was a great hotel.

“Perfect locality. Excellent service”

Arrived from the airport on the Aerobus to Catalunya square and easily found hotel 5 mins walk away. Great location 2 mins to Ramblas but not on a main road so quiet. Single room was basic but clean. Had some problems with the toilet but this was soon sorted. Staff were very helpful. Very convenient for the Hop on Hop off tourist buses. Will definitely return.

Area recommendations
Found the Gothic area fascinating with its squares, narrow streets and little shops. A sense of history.
