“OK for the Price”

After reading other reviews did not have great expectations. This hotel is an older property in need of some repairs and upgrades, however the staff was very helpful. For the price it was OK for 3 nights. The food was basic, but there was always something appealing to eat. The beer was always good. There was music every night until 11:00 PM, which was a little too loud; even with the windows closed and the air conditioner running couldn't hear myself think in my room when the music was playing.

Area recommendations
Any hotel along the beach should be OK. Areas around the beach are safe and normally there are other tourists nearby.
Outdoors or beach
The beaches along the southwest coast are all very nice and clean.

“PARADISE”

The front desk service was excellent. All the questions that we had were answered. The front desk personel bent over backwards to make sure that all our needs were met. The breakfast staff were somewhat unfriendly. The housekeeping service was excellent. The fixtures in the bathroom needed to be updated. Sitting on the toilet one had to sit on an angle. But most of all the view of the ocean was to die for. GREAT BEACH!!!!!!

“not so impressed”

We were so excited when we arrived to the hotel. After a 5 hour flight, we could not wait to drop off our luggage and start our fun filled vacation. However, once we got to the front desk to check in, the hotel receptionist was not so welcoming. We were so friendly but in return, we were greeted with a " i hate my job....why are you making me do work?" expression on her face. Very monotone. Very BLAH. No smile. Totally killed my mood with her nasty attitude and facial expression. I've traveled to many places before and everyone is super friendly...but not this lady and certain other workers at this hotel. I thought maybe she was having a bad day but I encountered her snottiness every time I saw her. After we learned how unfriendly certain people were...we didn't let that get to us. Brushed it off and enjoyed our vacation to the fullest. Don't get me wrong....just a certain few were unfriendly but the majority (bartenders, waitresses) were very delightful people.

Area recommendations
If you happen to be there on a Friday night....you HAVE to hit up Friday Fish Fry at Oistin's. It's where the locals and tourists meet at night for GREAT food, music, dancing, and shopping for local crafts. Very good experience. You can go there any day of the week but Friday nights are the biggest nights of the week. When you get there...try Roslin's. It's the one with the red sign. you can't miss it because it's one of the first stands at the beginning of Oistins and it will have one of the longest lines there. You will wait forever for your food but it is totally worth it! As for activities..we went on an island safari tour, ziplining, and we spent a day on the tiami catamaran. All were worth the money. Had an awesome time!
Traveller's tip
The hotel is not for the younger crowd. Definitely for the older crowd, retired people or families with little kids. The hotel did its job in that it gave us a place to eat, drink, shower and sleep. However, they need to do a lot of maintenance. It's very old school looking. Kind of like an institution. The all inclusive package is great for the drinks (try the rum punch and pina colada) but the food was below average. Breakfast buffet was the best meal they served. Lunch and dinner buffets were not too appetizing. Even dinner at the Italian and Seafood restaurant was somewhat disappointing.

“Laid Back Hotel for older people”

Hotel was of average appearance. Cleanliness was a plus. Staff was accommodating but moved to island time- slow. The food was EXCELLENT. A nice variety was available at each meal. The majority of the guests were late sixities to early seventies. The Hotel lacked a fun atmosphere. There wasn't any lively island music out by the pool.Beach area isn't very large, but nice. Evening entertainment had alot to be desired. Bingo just doesn't cut it! Out of a six night stay, there was only ONE night of excellent entertainment. If you're looking for a place to just kick back and relax(do nothing) this would be the place for you.

Traveller's tip
Join the locals at Oisten's Market for dinner, mostly fish. Bridgetown is a 15 minute ride from the hotel. Great shopping if you know what you're looking for. Mount GAy Rum Tour was excellent. The rum flowed for sampling and they privided a wonderful lunch.

“nice but not paradise”

This hotel was okay, but the staff and workers were fantastic and did all they could to make you happy....I would just say that if you show up expecting paradise you will be let down...but hey, a hotel is a hotel....

Traveller's tip
All though this resort is AI we found a cute little local spot for breakfast about a block away...turn right out of the driveway and walk to the end of the street... Its on your left.

“Good hotel for the price”

I liked the Barbados Beach Club. My only real issue with it was that I had to drive to "The Gap," which is my favorite area to eat. Also, the buffet food at the hotel was pretty terrible.

“Barbados Beach Club”
