“Secluded Paradise”
Compared with the villa that we stayed at before in Jimbaran, the Alila Ubud was less luxurious but more peaceful. We were greeted with a cold fruit tea at check-in and was told of the different activities organized by the hotel (ie. Trips to nearby temples and puppet shows). Although the hotel was located deep within the rice fields, there are private shuttles that took us to Ubud Market. And if you missed the shuttle on the way back, taxi is about US$5.00. The room is a little dated and is showing some sign of age. The complimentry breakfast was great, and the view from the restaurant and pool was awesome.
“Older people Hotel”
Accommodations: Rooms were too small and had very little storage space. Extra roll away bed was overpriced and no breakfast was included for the 3rd person. No extra chair was in the room or patio for the third person. Condition of room: Back door was not locking but was repaired when called. Room need improvement of upkeep. Ropes of Roman shades were too short, so had to climb on a chair to reach it to open the shades. Food: Restaurant food was good but very overpriced. Location: The hotel was too far from Ubud but surroundings were fantastic. Although it was nice and quiet, the shuttle only ran until 17:00 hrs. The shuttle was old, not comfortable. and had no air conditioning. A hotel of this caliber should have a newer shuttle. Service: Service was good and staff was very helpful and pleasant. Would have appreciated if we had some Balinese music. Although it was nice and quiet, the location was too remote and inconvenient since the shuttle only ran to 17:00 hrs. Recreation: Pool was great. Activity listed was way too expensive. I would recommend this hotel to people who were not that active and like to lounge by the pool only. Location was too remote for active people who want to be on the go doing things.
“Eco-friendly place”
The place is secluded and gated with two security check post. 1st check point you drive thru the local village rice paddy fields the 2nd check point is the main entrance which you drive down to hotel lobby. The hotel is settled on ravine that overlooks the jungle. Its very quiet and relaxing. The hotel staff is vfriendly and helpful, they love to see you smile also. If you plan to go on tours go in the morning to avoid big bus tour jams that comes from the city.
“Peaceful escape”
the initial concern about isolation in fact blossums as a pleasant escape ..the Spa treatments were superb; the pool seetting is as inviting as it looks; recommend a white water rafting experience and local tour to moutains; access to Ubud via hotel shuttle -but restricted hours, so negotiate taxi fare
“Great hotel, could use some improvements”
This was a great hotel. A few complaints, in order of biggest concerns to smaller ones: - Some of the towels were stained yellow, with the worst (a bath towel) having a large dark brown stain on it. Not acceptable for a hotel of this calibur - We did not receive "Complimentary" airport shuttle service on arrival, and not knowing how much we can bargain with the taxis, had to pay over $40 for the cab ride to the hotel - Some of the finishings in the rooms are showing wear and need updates (ie. wood on bathroom doors is heavily stained) - Service on weekends seemed worse than the service we received during the rest of the time. Other than that, we had a great time. The breakfast every morning was great, and the service was very good as well. Even with these complaints we would go back again.
“Alila”
With the exception of the hard beds, this hotel was exceptional. Food was fantastic, the view over the pool is incredible, the service is five star. Only 20 minutes from Ubud which offers a host of restaurants and shopping I cant trecommend this hotel highly enough.
“Disappointing”
Although the setting is pretty impressive, the buildings are looking tired and worn. Rooms are small, and worse for the wear. Irritatingly the free wi-fi doesn't work in a lot of the rooms, the hotel car service was disorganized and the free breakfasts very disappointing. There is only one restaurant and that is poor. The coffee was great but not much else. There are better places in the area of Ubud.
“A Little Tired”
This hotel used to be the Chedi Ubud. It has a very good location overlooking the Ayung River gorge. The restaurant/bar is excellent in terms of food, service and location and the infinity swimming pool is impressive. However, the rooms disappoint and there is a feeling that they are a little tired and maintenance has not been kept up adequately. None of the rooms have TV. In all and compared to other properties we stayed in in Bali this hotel was disappointing and did not meet up fully to our expectations.
