Excellent base for exploring with comfort & peace

Posted 18-Oct-2014
Pros: The relaxed atmosphere, cleanliness, peaceful night sleep, location as a base for touring the Algarve with car.Nice filling breakfast.Competitive price.
Cons: Only thing I would say is a necessity nowadays is to have WI-FI, free in the rooms also, not just the lobby.Helps with planning your travels.
Location: Picturesque towns like Carvoiero,Portimao or Lagos, an excellent shopping mall at Guia.Highlands at Monchique,Castle at Silves,Coastline Ponte Piadade
After much searching for a hotel that fit the bill along the coastline and around Albufeira, we settled on the Baia Grande. I must say for the week we wanted, it was also the cheapest ! Having looked around the town after we had I checked in, all I can say is that I am glad we stayed here rather than noisy crowded rooms or apartments in close vicinity to pub after pub and the crowds. I can't understand the people who marked the place down because the entertainment was more suited to older people and was too quiet. My partner and I are in our mid 40's and most of the other guests were retirees or OAPs, for that I am glad. It meant that we actually got sleep of a night instead of putting up with those type of guests who talk all night on the balcony at the top of their voices or generally annoy other people. The room was very clean and warm with a great balcony view. I was surprised how well sound insulated it was when the door was shut. The entertainment didn't finish that late either, another bonus. The breakfast was well appointed with either continental or English, plenty of fruit or cereal and hot drinks. For me the reviews I read before booking had a lot of nit-picking and those just want perfection and are probably never satisfied with anything. The hotel and grounds were well kept, always space to park. The staff were generally helpful and we didnt have any cause to complain. If you want loud music, booze and to talk all night, this place isn't for you. Obrigado !!

Last Minute Holiday

Posted 13-Oct-2014
Pros: The hotel was welcoming and staff very friendly and added bonus of hospitality bus. Weather was lovely and sunny.
Cons: It would be nice to have a tea and coffee facility in the bedroom.
Location: Near to Albufeireia, lots of night life in the Old Town and plenty of beaches
Just spent a last minute holiday at this hotel. Very pleasantly surprised on arrival we were surprised it is only a 4 star rating. The Hotel was spotless, the staff were friendly and helpful. Location was just right, not too far away from Albufereira and the hospitality bus service was an added bonus.

Lovely Hotel in Relaxed Location!

Posted 29-Sep-2014
Pros: The brightness and cleanliness and the verdant surroundings. The relaxed atmosphere and the caring staff.
Cons: The main course of the evening buffet.
Location: Outskirts of Albufeira. Zoomarine, Slide and Splash, Sand Sculptures.
Modern Algarve hotel in verdant location, lovely pool's (indoor and outdoor) each with jacuzzi. Ten minute walk to stunning Coelha beach with excellent beach cafe/restaurant. Nothing too much trouble for hotel staff, very patient helpful lady Receptionist each morning. Huge room and bathroom, spotlessly clean, only problem was a mystery droaning noise for part of the night, that the hotel staff were not able to indentify. Huge balcony over looking pool surrounded by spectacular tree's, shrubbery typical of the Algarve. Very good choice at Breakfast. Evening buffet starter's and dessert's very enjoyable although main course a little disappointing making it not such good value for money. O' Marinheiro restaurant a few minute walk down the track opposite the entrance to the hotel. Have been eating there for 16 years now and standard's always the same, absolutely superb! Shuttle bus to Albufeira helpful although no late night return, however very reasonable taxi's. In conclusion an excellent value for money hotel.

Good hotel in a convenient location

Posted 22-Sep-2014
Pros: See above.
Cons: Cleanliness of bedrooms and friendliness of staff. The staff are generally unfriendly and do not routinely say good morning/evening etc
Location: See above
Great swimming pool and plenty of sun loungers. Good pool bar with snacks etc at reasonable prices. Hotel is conveniently placed for several local beaches and nearby restaurants. Breakfasts at the hotel are really good with an extensive range of food to suit all tastes. The entertainment each night in the main bar is varied and of a suitable quality.

Close to Town But Far Enough Away To Relax

Posted 20-Sep-2014
Pros: Peaceful,, Clean....Well Laid Out... Breakfast.. Shuttle Bus service into town ( last drop off 18.30)
Cons: Tea & Coffee In Rooms Free use of the in room safe ( Charged at £2 daily) which I thought was a con for a 4 star hotel Pool Bar open in the evening
Location: Handy for old town and the quieter part of town You can walk into town in about 45 minutes Beach nearby
The hotel is about 3 miles from Albufeira Old Town... Set in its own grounds which are well maintained. Ample Sun Beds by the large pool... Pool bar ( although sadly it only opens 10-7 ) - a missed opportunity in my view as an ideal chance to open on an evening as opposed to sitting in the hotel cocktail bar with the entertainment provided. Breakfast was good in general and catered for most tastes ...both continental and full cooked breakfast available on a self serve buffet basis There is no a la carte menu in the evening just a themed buffet option... we chose to take the excellent free shuttle bus service from the hotel into town and then eat there and soak up the atmosphere before getting one of the many taxis back to the hotel ( £7 approx) Best of all you can chill out and relax to recharge your batteries..

Hotel is well located and very clean.

Posted 15-Sep-2014
Pros: Location and grounds.
Cons: WiFi!!
Location: Go to Mama Mia for dinner. Well located to many great beaches. Old Town is nearby and worth going there for dinner.
Some of the staff was friendly and helpful. Some not so much. Food was mediocre, but consistent. WiFi was horrible. Had to go to one area of hotel to get it and then it was sporadic. Impressed with the lobby bar. Nice music and friendly staff. Great location. Hotel was nice and clean.

Nice Hotel But Not 4 Star

Posted 12-Sep-2014
Pros: Quiet Location
Cons: Duvet could have been given quicker ; hotel shop should be stocked with essentials - including water at a resonable price.
Location: Lovely beach within walking distance , a great chinese restaurant Albuberfia and Marina nearby .
Nice Hotel - however not 4 star. Room not cleaned unitl late afternoon and not vaccumed for our entire stay. No tea or ironing facilities in room.Had to pay extra to use room safe - as well as internet in room. Took three days and constant reminders to be given an additional duvet. Hotel shop did not have tampax - had to go to local store! Was not warned about the music in our room from the bar which went on until 11.30 everynight. They did offer to move us - but to a smaller room- as we were three we stayed put and put up with the noise. If I had paid more for this hotel I would not have been happy - I guess you get what you pay for! However once you know what you are getting this was a nice enough hotel in a lovely location with a great beach within walking distance and at the price - would think about returning.
