Extremely cold swimming pool

Posted 16-Aug-2014
Pros: Beautiful beaches nearby and a quiet family hotel. Free shuttle to the beach and town. A few restaurants close by.
Cons: The swimming pool desperately needs to be heated as it is Freezing cold. Staff could smile once in a while.
Location: The location is quiet, there is a small super market near by as well as a few restaurants.
Pool area is nice and looks pretty however the pool is FREEZING cold. very dissapointing as I love swimming but did not like the feeling of being about to have a heart attack every time I stepped foot in the pool. Staff are not very friendly and never smile. Requested a chicken burger as I do not eat beef (the only burger on the menu) and waiter told me this isn't possible although there was grilled chicken on the menu. Spent a long time trying to explain that all they had to do was put some chicken in a burger bun. Although it's not difficult the staff there acted as though they were doing me a massive favour once they agreed to give me the requested chicken burger. Not very impressive. Staff there are not happy to help at all. Cleaners failed to clean the room properly, not hoovering or cleaning the mirrors. Spent time cleaning the room myself. Breakfast buffet was not really worth eating, so much so that I stopped bothered to attend breakfast after a few days. There was one evening where I ordered food from room service, half an hour later it still had not arrived so I called back to query where my order was, only to have them tell me they don't know what I'm talking about as I had not ordered anything! Bar staff tended to put too much ice in drinks. Although food at the hotel was not enjoyable, there was a really nice Chinese restaurant 10 minutes away which I enjoyed. Spent an amazing day at zoo marine which is not too far away. Beautiful location.

Nice hotel but not near the shops.

Posted 16-Aug-2014
Pros: How clean and how the hotel staff helped look after the visitors.
Cons: Read above.
Location: The location s okay but nothing to much near by.
The hotel and the staff were lovely, but they should make a few changes example heat the swimming pool, because the water was too cold. The weather was beautiful nice and hot but not enough to keep the pool warm. Also they should have tea and coffee making facilities in all the rooms, because in all the hotels in uk all rooms have a kettle for makin beverages and they should have a iron for visitors to use. They have a lot of visitors from the uk they really should look in to these matters.its a lovely hotel but to me and some other people I spoke feel the same way.

An Oasis of Relaxation

Posted 15-Aug-2014
Pros: It was a good place to chill out. Very good setting. Good variety of food. Nice staff - very obliging and hardworking. Brilliant room and kept clean.
Cons: The hot food section was generally lukewarm but the food was well cooked.. One receptionist could have been a little more friendly giving advice.
Location: The hotel is on the outskirts of Albufeira in the private villa development of Sesmarias. A few restaurants in Gale and beaches reached by shuttle.
The hotel stands alone in an area of private villa development in Sesmarias. This makes for a very tranquil setting and was just right for us as we wanted to chill out. It was just the right distance from Albufeira and we took advantage of the hotels shuttle service which is very good. The hotel is relatively small compared to some of the big hotels in Albufeira new town and thus is able to give a more personal approach. The setting is superb with pools and palm trees. Our room looked over the pool and the far away sea. It was spacious and kept very clean. The hotel itself is bright and fairly modern looking and forms a colourful backdrop to the pool area. The evening entertainment was generally very good and took place in the comfortable bar area. The food was very good and we had a lot of choice.

Staff.

Posted 10-Aug-2014
Pros: The pool was cold but beautiful.
Cons: Housekeeping staff, if you see do not disturb, don't come in.
Location: It is too far away form everything. You can play crazy golf about 10 mins away.
In as much as the hotel was lovely, the restaurant and bar pool staff were not a bit friendly. The staff in reception were very helpful and could not do enough for you. Hey all I wanted was a smile now and then. All amenities close before 12 pm so we left hotel every night for that holiday feel, cost a forune in taxi's to get back every evening. Everything was exceptionally clean. But would not stay here again, who wants to see people playing cards in the bar of an evening, not me.

Lovely week at Baia Grande

Posted 24-Jul-2014
Pros: Most of all we liked the location. Far enough away from Albafeira with no other hotels in vicinity . Easy walking distance of lovely local beaches.
Cons: Personally we would have loved to have had a tennis court on site .
Location: Brilliant location as lovely and peaceful. Suited us but wouldn't suit everybody. I would say not so good for families as not much to do locally.
My daughter and I spent a wonderful chill-out week here. Staff were friendly, food good and room big and comfortable . Evening entertainment was very enjoyable.

Absolutely lovely view with huge room

Posted 21-Jul-2014
Pros: The rooms are huge and absolutely lovely view if you choose sea view superior room. Good pool and overall everything was good.
Cons: Food, especially breakfast. More options or variety would be good. Stayed there 9 days and would have loved to have more variety in terms of breakfast
Location: Location was remote but free shuttle was provided. There's a local beach which is walking distance and free shuttle is also provided.
Overall experience was amazing. Staffs was really good as initially we were given a room we didn't quite like and staffs were very understanding and moved us up to an amazing room. Felt like we won a jackpot although it was a superior room we initially ordered. Very relaxing holiday although food in albufeira generally wasn't the best but lots of beaches and places to drink. If we visit portugal again, then we will surely come back here.

Nice quiet hotel with lovely pool

Posted 14-Jul-2014
Pros: Very clean, large rooms with comfortable beds. No race for sun beds Lovely food on half board
Cons: The reception staff could be more welcoming, very serious and few smiles The free shuttle bus times were at odd times in the evening
Location: Quiet location away from Albufeira, but close enough for short taxi ride, as the shuttle bus stops in the early evening. Lovely beaches close by.
Very enjoyable stay in a superior room (301) but was directly over the bar, so you could hear the entertainment in the room if you want an early night! Lovely view from small balcony, but large room.

As good as the photos!

Posted 08-Jul-2014
Pros: Quiet location, friendly helpful staff, bright clean rooms (overlooked pool/sea) transport to Alburferia/Gale, excellent breakfast
Lovely holiday, quiet location (exactly what we wanted), attractive walks along cliff tops leading to beautiful beaches, a taste of the Algarve.
