Excellent hotel in Agra

Posted 08-Nov-2014
Pros: Nice view of Taj Mahal. Old fashioned but quirky and well maintained
Cons: Nothing
Location: Taj Mahal
We were REALLY very well looked after at the Gateway Hotel. Upgraded room. Nice dinner and breakfast. The hotel is not brand new but has charm and character. It is well maintained and staff are excellent. Would definitely recommend if visiting the Taj Mahal. An overnight stay is all you need.

Taj Hotel Agra

Posted 20-Oct-2014
Location: Located in Agra which is a must on anyones to do list.
Have stayed at Taj Gateway as it is now called many times. I have always found the hotel and its staff to be efficient yet friendly. Room was of reasonable size, clean bathroom and new shower which is a considerable improvement on the old style baths that they had years ago. Pool is nice and staff there were attentive. Breakfast was acceptable. Dinner in the Indian restaurant was of good quality. We had a meat thali the second night we stayed there which was well prepared and presented. They are attempting to make the roof area and outdoor drinking facility. Whilst it cannot compete with the sanitised view of the Taj that once gets from the Oberoi hotel, my personal feeling is that you do, at least, get a better feel of "India" from there. The Taj mahal is not illuminated at night, so if there is not moon then you will not see it.

Best Hotel for Taj Mahal experiences Agra

Posted 09-Sep-2014
Pros: Character, atmosphere, excellent facilities, pool, restaurant, spa, staff.
Location: Central to all activities, and major monuments in agra. No more then 10 min from train and 5 min from taj. Local market, and high street near by.
Wonderful experience. Greeted by Ms. Sylvia who was very welcoming and helpful. She organized and took care of all of the details of our stay and tour of the Taj Mahal and other sights we requested. She went over and beyond to assist us, make our stay comfortable and the best. The tour guide provided was extremely knowledgable, spoke English well and truly looked out for us. We had the best tour experience. Our cab driver Mr. Pramood was very accommodating, helpful and professional he assisted us to catch our train even coming to the platform and seeing us onto our train car. Overall an excellent hotel, and services. Highly recommended!

It's a lovely hotel with very nice staff. We were upgraded to a room on the top floor with a beautiful view of the Taj--very nice! Room was very comfortable with good pillows and a perfectly moderately firm bed. Our few special requests were granted promptly and with good will. The pool was very popular with guests but was not exactly crystal clean water but good enough I suppose. Food and bar services were a bit pricey but good quality. We'd stay here again!

From the moment I stepped out of the taxi I felt as if I was the most important visitor ever! Everything was great about this hotel, if you're staying in Agra it's got to be here.

A major dissapointment

Posted 29-Apr-2014 on Hotels.com
I booked this hotel expecting a comfortable resort. Upon arrival, the lobby was calm and inviting. However when i went to the room, I was shocked and depressed. The room had furnishings that were decades old. The bed covering was shabby and had stains on it. There was cigarette ashes on the dresser top. I called for a room change. they moved me to another room. it was a half notch better. i accepted it knowing that this was the best i could accept from this hotel. it was still furnished with fixtures from the 50's. The coffee cups were dirty. i left them out for them to be cleaned and unfortunately they just put them back dirty. there must be better options in Agra for anyone to consider.

Close to Taj Mahal and amber fort

Posted 12-Apr-2014
Pros: Security for the guess.
Cons: Cheaper transportation to and from hotel.
Location: Great location close to every thing...go eat aloo patty at subway and have a shasha at koffee corner next door.
Lots of security and we'll rounded staff...good food and clean hotel..pool and lobby shopping.
