Our trip to Thailand included a 5 night stay on Koh Chang, an Island we heard was nice but we really had no idea what to expect. Also concerning accommodation we decided to take a gamble and book a hotel that at the time was not yet even open yet. And the gamble paid of 10 fold! I must say that both the island and the AWA resort made a stunning impression on our group of 4. The resort itself is just amazing starting from the epic entrance with the awe-inspiring set of multiple 10m tall doors, the reception with it's 10m high glass roof, the beautifully integrated 50m long pool, to the amazingly landscaped water front area. The architecture is just amazing! Even the basic rooms are very spacious with a modern styling with large bathrooms with open showers, large bathtubs with room view windows, everything brand new and very high quality. The resort is right at the beginning of a beautiful and quiet beach. The staff was also amazing! One of our group forgot their passport in our hotel in Bangkok and the staff went out of their way to help us get it sent to Koh Chang by courier. A big thank You again for Your help and for making our stay at the AWA so memorable!!
We had a quite superb stay at this hotel, made all the more memorable by the "nothing was to much trouble" approach of a quite outstanding staff team. From the reception team, the housekeeping carers, through the restaurant staff, to the pool attendants, every member of this amazing team of people showed pride in their place of work and in the service that they wished to share with their customers. Not surprisingly; this was exemplified by the example set by an ever present and very "hands on" general manager who set this positive tone by the style of his positive leadership.
I would unreservedly recommend this hotel to anyone and feel very confident that we will ourselves return.

Beautiful feelings at the resort. Overall very nice property for the family. Excellent location and having nearly 600 metres long private beach. Breakfast above par.only small exception that standard cottage room very small and congested.

Wonderful hotel with its own beach and spa. The pool is great, and every meal we had was delicious! Staff was very friendly and helped arrange transport and excursions for us. Only minor gripe was an issue with the jacuzzi tub in our room, which they couldn't fix while we were there. Would return in a heartbeat!
This is the most beautiful location - quiet and very scenic, and the hotel itself is a wonderful environment, set on the shoreline and surrounded by pools of fish, turtles etc. It's also a lovely construction and both the common areas and the bedrooms are very well appointed. Staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. In short, a perfect place for a getaway, and completely unlike the horrid commercialized parts of Ko Chang on the west side of the island.
We're a Thai-American couple so traveling to Thailand is our regular trip every year. We like the environment of the resort. Very quiet and tropical as it's trying to be. However, we feel that we were arranged to be with other thai guests in one area which was quite separate from other foreign guests who stayed with the same room type. We were not sure if this was intentional but couldn't help thinking of it given what we saw.
The room was very nice and well maintained. The only bad thing in our room was the AC thermostat that didn't work correctly.
Most surprising is the cleanliness of the beach. It was very dirty when we were there. We were so disappointed that we wanted to compare it with the public beach area. We don't think that the hotel couldn't afford someone regularly picking up trashes in the beach every morning.
