Me and my wife were staying in the new Ascian Pacific Tower, everything is new and facilities are convenient and nice. Staff were extremely nice and always showed when needed. Breakfast was great, especially home made yogurt. I will stay there again for future trips. The new tower is more space than the older building, I prefer the new tower. View of south face room is excellent. strongly recommended.
the hotel room is spacious enough for 2 people. i'm in love with their bed, super comfortable! they have UK plug so i don't even need a adapter. i think it's really sweet that this hotel got two kinds of plug. the staff is very friendly and helpful. i can speak chinese so i can't comment to their ability to speak english.i heard they have a nice gym but i don't have time to go...i would definitely stay in this hotel again the next nanjing trip. the only thing i'm not satiesfied is the bathroom water. the water flow is too small, they really need to improve it.
I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights during the Youth Olympic Games. Staff was always very helpful and spoke good English. Staff would always give the cab drivers our daily destinations which was very helpful as they don't speak any English! The hotel was only 2 blocks to the metro and is connected to the Aqua Mall. There was also another mall across the street. Confucius temple and a large market was located only 2 blocks away. The restaurant served a great buffet at every meal. The hotel has 2 towers. B tower had bigger and newer rooms but A tower rooms were still very acceptable and clean. Highly recommended!
Overall I like the hotel. The hotel staff were helpful. I have some quibbles with the design of the rooms. First, the bathroom is separated from the sleeping area by clear glass. Even with the shades pulled down, it was not that private. Secondly, the bathroom for the standard room is small. Yet they utilize the space poorly by dividing it into 3 separate areas using glass enclosures. As a result there is little counter space next to the sink. Other hotels with similarly sized bathrooms tend not to separate the toilet from the sink area resulting in more counter space. The selection of the floor tiles & grout make the floor look dirtier than it is necessary.
Their breakfast is pricey at Y108 or so. For a chinese breakfast, there is a good place across the street to the left. Early in the morning there are also street food venders right in front of the hotel. There are some good local restaurants near the hotel. For some travelers, it may help to know that the subway starts earlier than the posted time of 0600. We had no problem catching the early bus to Huangshan.
There is an amazing fashion mall with lots of venders (4 aisles on each floor, not just junky stuff, has food also) about one block from the hotel. The entrance is a dome and is next to the ?Remin or People Dept Store. It can be also accessed from the Metro station.

The hotel staff are great and always very accommodating and helpful. The location is very convenient. It is right next to the museum Zhong Shan Gate. I took a morning walk and was able to get to the Ming emperor tomb in half an hour, and hiked all the way up to the summit of Mt Purple Gold in about one and half hour--in high heels.
The facilities of the hotel is a little old. The toilet imported from Japan worked terribly. By the end of my stay, it overflowed and flooded the entire bathroom.
"Unique hotel with large rooms, nice neighborhood"
The location is nice for walking out and grabbing a bite to eat, so it turned out to be okay that there was no kitchen. The staff were incredibly friendly, though not sure about English speaking capabilities as a whole as our communication was in Chinese.
I have stayed at the Central Hotel before and always been impressed with the way that the hotel has gone out of its way to make my stay enjoyable. The room had been newly refurbished. The bed, unlike some in China had a beautiful soft mattress, pillows and was very comfortable. The assistant manager rang after I had settled in to see how the room was. I did not eat at the buffet restaurant this time, but instead invited friends to the New Natural restaurant, a Chinese style restaurant. The food was Sichuan style, very tasty and spicy!
All in all a great stay.
