The grounds of the resort are well kept and quite nice. The rooms are pretty worn out and not very well cleaned. The beach is great and the pools are nice. The food was pretty good with lots of options. Some of the staff were awesome, like a handful of them. However most of the staff, we found to be very unfriendly. Unlikely to return, mostly because the vibe didn’t feel overly welcoming. The rooms were not great but we didn’t mind as we spent almost no time in the rooms.

Our garden room was perfect, with lots of space inside and on the balcony. The beach and resort amenities were great, with good options available for food and drinks. The staff were very pleasant. We really enjoyed our week at the Azura.

The room was excellent for us. We loved the ground-floor location that was convenient to the pool and resort center. The room was nicely cleaned daily, and a few refreshments were provided each day, even more as requested. The property location with the beach and Pacific waves is marvelous! The estuary and pristine sandy beach to the south is great for walks and hanging out, and the sunset view across the lava rock shoreline toward Tamarindo is breathtaking. The pool also - it is beautiful and perfect for spending hours of reading, or fun entertainment, or just drinking and laughing. The entertainment crew is great, as is the bar/service staff at the pool!

Fabulous stay in a wonderful location. The staff are truly top-notch. Attentive and friendly. Every request was answered with “Of course, with pleasure!”. Food was excellent. Morning coffee with steamed milk delivered to our room early morning so we could sip and watch the sunrise from our balcony. A variety of on-site tours are included. The guides are excellent. Special shout-out to Sandra for finding the small Red-eyed tree frogs during the night tour. Scarlet macaws flying all over the lodge, monkeys everywhere, all sorts of beautiful birds and interesting critters right outside your room. The grounds and views are beautiful. Hike to a waterfall within ten minutes. Pool is nice too. They will take you down to the secluded beach and set you up with chairs and cooler. The beach is beautiful but very rocky. We had the Matapalo suite. Very nice though close to the entrance and main road so the intermittent traffic noise was a minus. We had a small issue with a large wandering spider and then a bark scorpion getting into our bathroom (each just once) but they responded within 3-4 minutes both times. They installed a door sweep on the bathroom door within hours to prevent them entering the bedroom- very speedy response. The view was outstanding however. Overall Lapa Rios is an outstanding lodge with wonderful staff, and I cannot recommend it enough. Five stars.

Room is spacious and clean. Breakfast was amazing lots of variety.

This hidden gem encompasses a museum like environment unlike any I’ve ever seen . The room was filled with the most artwork ever and incredible bed and furniture. Capturing your imagination at every second. Close to everything and free parking. We got a lousy back window view though on 2nd floor.

The room was just ok, I think the have a potential to be better and give a powerful experience even in a colonial hotel

The pool was great!

We arrived late in the middle of the night. We were lost at first for where to go in the excellent parade, but then the attendant had our keys and parking spot ready, very easy and relaxing checking. Wonderful room, nice beds and furniture. Amazing.

Liked the hotel, the location was fabulous. The gentleman who helped us was very nice too.
