Our stay at Diamonds Mapenzi Beach had several positive aspects. The location is good, the pool area is nice, and the staff are friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout the stay. That said, there are a few points worth being aware of. The rooms appear more worn in reality than the pictures suggest, which detracts from the overall impression. In addition, the food unfortunately falls below expectations. Considering the price, the culinary experience could have been significantly better. This becomes particularly noticeable when compared to similar hotels in destinations such as the Seychelles or Cape Verde, where the food standard is often higher within the same price range. It is also worth mentioning that the Hotels.com Gold benefits (Early/Late checkout, Upgrade) do not seem to apply here (even when listed on confirmatio). However, this appears to be more an issue with Hotels.com rather than the hotel itself. Overall, a perfectly acceptable place to stay, but somewhat overpriced for the experience it offers.

Staff were so friendly, food was amazing and the villa was beautiful with everything we needed

The room was cleaned daily, and the evening turndown service was a lovely touch. The staff were exceptional — every single member of the team went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Their professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail truly exceeded expectations. The spa was the best ever.

Property is beautiful but there is no swimmable beach. They have a shuttle to another resort but they only do it twice a day, You have to pay $10 each but it is consummable, You can use the chairs and umbrellas but by the time you get there after 11 they are all occupied, if you don’t care about the beach then its ok. They have a nice pool and a jetty.

The resort was very clean and well maintained, there was a peacefulness which you would not get in the more busier resorts. The staff were helpful and very friendly. Only thing I would say is that the dinner service was quite slow, however food was quite good.

My mom and I just stayed here for three nights and LOVED IT!!! From the staff, to the cleanliness of the hotel and to the food options. Outstanding. Literally perfect, no notes.

This is a hotel of opposites. Great location in stone town but down a dark alley you can’t quite drive to the door. Helpful reception but we’d booked 3 rooms and they initially gave us 2. Lovely clean spacious rooms but others with no view or very noisy. Wonderful old character but random electrical sockets - could only have the (empty) fridge OR the kettle OR the light plugged in. Clean bathroom with plenty of hot water and shower gel but no soap to wash hands at the basin. Great terrace for breakfast but evening menu limited. Lovely pool but no sun in the afternoon. All in all is a charming old-world local hotel with a boutique feel but there is a reason it is cheaper than some of the others. I would stay here again for the price.
