Costa Vicentina Beach Holidays

Enigma has a great location and, in my opinion, the concept of the hotel has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not quite live up to what we expected, especially considering the price we paid. The hotel is clearly in need of better maintenance. There was mould visible on some of the walls, the pool did not look particularly clean, and the spa felt quite outdated. The gym was also very poor, with only a few machines and very limited equipment. We also had dinner at the hotel. It was okay, but nothing particularly special or memorable. The breakfast was another disappointment. It felt quite limited, and for the price of the stay, we expected a much wider choice and more variety. We also found it surprising that there were no complimentary tea and coffee facilities in the room. Nowadays, many hotels provide at least a kettle with tea and coffee, even if it’s a basic offering especially having paid for a superior room in a 4 star hotel. Overall, Enigma has a fantastic concept and a lot of potential, and the location is definitely a plus. However, the lack of maintenance and the limited facilities and services make it difficult to justify the price. With some investment and attention to detail, this could be a really special hotel.

The pool was as advertised. We didn't get a chance to use due to our later arrival and 1 night stay. The internet was very sketchy. It was difficult to make calls and connections were dropped. We were hiking and we had a bit of a walk to get to our place. There were no amenities such as coffee, water, or salt/pepper. No store was nearby and getting any groceries would have involved a 3 mile round trip on foot. There were also no restaurants or cafes nearby. We were provided with a fan for each bedroom. The air was quite still and it was hot making it difficult to sleep even with the windows open. The mattresses were quite hard and I slept on the couch also hard but not as bad. Everything was clean but quite dated. If you have a car and access to shops and restaurants, it might be ok but if you are hiking this is not the place for you.
