Sainte-Marie-des-Fontaines All inclusive Holidays

This hotel checked all of the boxes for us - friendly staff, good restaurant, full bar, comfortable bed, car parking, proximity to downtown, reasonable rates. I would recommend to anyone visiting Normandy.

The hotel was generally clean. Some parts were a little run down, but nothing major. The pool was very cold, despite been listed as heated - even in the August heat wave! The hotel advertises air conditioning - it does not have A/C!! It has a general 'air cooling system' which doesn't cool the rooms in the slightest. You can't alter the temperature in the room and no cool air comes from the vent. This was confirmed by reception when we reported our 'A/C' not working.

We arrived for our stay down a long beautiful driveway, pristine gardens up to a wonderful chateau only to check in and not be staying in the chateau but a mansion they called at the side of the chateau, when we checked out I did express my disappointment at this, we had been in Normandy for 6 days and this was our last night, spending a little more on our accommodation as a treat, we were extremely disappointed in our stay. Our room was dirty, there were cobwebs everywhere, mould in the wardrobe and pieces of the bath chipped out. We then went to the pool and to use the hot tubs and sauna, only first to find a dead mouse in the pool, we reported this and the reception lady came and fished out said mouse with a net and said we could still use the pool! The hot tub which was uncovered was cloudy, only half full and had hair all floating on the top, the sauna was cold and so was the shower available in that room. The shower screen was hanging off the wall as well! The only thing about our stay we enjoyed was the breakfast the following morning. When we checked out I voiced my unhappy stay only to be told to reach out if I ever wanted to stay again, they would make sure we were in the chateau and give us a discount. To be honest I think we should have received a full refund, this stay really did not live up to our expectations.

This was truly a wonderful and special stay. The hotel and property was beautiful and peaceful and close enough to d-day and other WW2 sites, Bayeux and other towns for getting out and exploring. We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant one night as well and it was flavorful and well cooked. We would definitely stay here again.

The ambiance and charm of the Manoir is endearing. We only stayed the one night but would have loved to stay longer. Surrounding towns are lovely, and close to the sea. Very comfortable bed, spacious bathroom, lovely view over the courtyard. Ample parking and welcoming owners.
