8.8/10 Excellent! (565 reviews)
Overall, I had a really good time. The food was actually very good compared to some of the reviews that I saw that mentioned it was mediocre. The transportation staff were top-tier and their driving abilities are unmatched. The only thing is that I did call and asked for the in room snacks to be stocked, but that was never done during my time.

The food is very fresh and they take great pride in quality ingredients in their food and drinks. Each is a masterpiece both is taste and presentation! The staff are all amazing and the property is very clean, except for the pools which gather leaves from the trees above, but I appreciate it’s impossible to avoid. The tubing and zipline are a must try offered on the property and the guided walk and yoga beautiful experience. The thermal river is unbelievably beautiful and warm like a hot tub and clear to the bottom. You have to experience it to believe it. Lots of walking and steps but all worth it! Nothing but relaxation and beauty at this resort. The rooms are very functional and private and it was amazing seeing monkeys and birds everywhere. I would stay here again!

9.8/10 Exceptional! (291 reviews)
The view is obviously incredible, which is what the resort relies on. The staff were nice enough, but lacked management and training in certain areas. Had they been more attentive, we would have spent more money.
The food was well cooked but the menus are a little odd.
After paying so much to stay at the hotel, it's then disappointing to have to compete with public visitors to get tables in the restaurant.
I'm shocked the property has been open less than 10 years; it needs a lot of maintenance. The water pressure is non-existant (shower is disappointing and even worse when irrigation is running), tiles are missing in both the main and the in-room pool. The main pool needs a deep clean, moss and black mould in the grout lines (black floating around in the pool). Shortage of pool towels, which have seen better days. Our bi-folding patio doors only partially opened, and we heard others talking about the same by the pool.
We visited in dry season so whilst not expecting lush green landscaping, lights, wiring and irrigation all out the ground was disappointing to see. The areas behind the pool where nobody looks and between rooms is littered with rubbish and buiding materials.
Whilst not the hotel's problem, the little make-believe town of Las Catalinas is extremely overhyped. Its still being built and its nothing. It reminded us on a Disney back lot set. Fake buildings with nobody in them. The beach and sea are lovely but quite busy with locals and visiting tourists.

We had a great stay at the W. It was a beautiful resort with helpful staff. There was some wear and tear on furniture in the room but didn’t impact the stay. It was definitely pricey but paying for the brand. Only thing I wish was that for families traveling the adult only pool is beautiful and we will there were some hours that kids could enjoy the space as well.

Just wow - So much to say about this property! My husband and I stayed for 2 weeks. The view overlooking the marina is GORGEOUS and worth it for breakfast on the balcony every morning! Playa Flamingo is a short 5-10 min walk away and that beach is one of the nicest in Costa Rica! When we arrived, Carlos greeted us and drove us to get groceries to stock up the fridge. He was so welcoming and so kind! Gustavo was also invaluable during our stay; always offering a recommendation or a friendly smile! The room itself was perfect. The bed was so comfy, the AC was a godsend and everything was clean and neat. Staying in the marina is super convenient! There are multiple restaurants to choose from as well as a plaza across the street for other dining options. We did not need to rent a car for being in this area. We rented a golf cart and that allowed us to explore Flamingo, Potrero and drive all the way to Brasilito (to park and walk to Playa Conchal). The area of Playa Flamingo is very quiet with little to no nightlife. We loved it for this aspect but understand it could be “too quiet” for others.
Gustavo and Carlos: Thank you for making our holiday extraordinary. We will surely be back!
