We stayed at the Protea hotel in Entebbe for 2 nights to be close to the airport. The hotel property is nice, located on lake Victoria with view of the water, a waterside park with benches, play area for children and pool. The rooms are spacious compared to rooms we’ve stayed in while in Europe. The bathroom is small and doesn’t reflect a 4star hotel bathroom. The caulking is poorly done and coming apart, the style is extremely outdated with fluorescent lights taking away any warmth from the room. The shower water will take 3-4 minutes to heat up but once heated can get very hot. The hotel has a restaurant within called Tides which was average, with slightly higher prices than I’ve seen throughout the country. First night I had the Nile perch and husband had the steak which were both good and decent portions. The following day we had the breakfast buffet which had tons of fruit, cereal and bread with option to have eggs/omelette ordered. For lunch we had the snack bites with nachos and spring rolls by the pool side with a really delicious smoothie. That night we opted for grilled tilapia and burger for dinner however shortly after we were violently ill less 10 hours before our long flight back home to the US. We had food poisoning from one of the meals that day (all at Tides restaurant). They do offer a 24hr shuttle service that was very punctual and arrived prior to the scheduled 2:30am departure. Convenient place to stay if you are leaving for the airport at odd times.

This place is a bit of a ghost town. Management is absent from the property and the staff, while nice and well-meaning, can't confirm your booking or access your records at check-in. It's you to prove you've booked with your receipt. Then they have no idea which room you booked and you've got to look around the hotel til it matches the picture and description on the receipt. Staff were really helpful with luggage though.

We had a wonderful experience … Theresa at the front desk was just amazing and the front office manager” Javon” I think trying to recall his name was so exceptionally kind , took care of our needs when we weren’t comfortable and that was so nice . The waiter that was so kind to go an extra mile to make sure we receive the best care .. Overall Speke apartments gave us the best care and I will return
