Hispaniola Adults Only Holidays

This property has a lot of potential, it’s recently renovated (like just reopened we were the first guests) and the common areas are beautifully done. The staff were kind and helpful. The food was mostly buffet, I’d rate 4/5. The issues came with the room. We had a handicapped person and they got us a handicapped room, but there were no rails in the bathroom, and nowhere to sit for the shower, and they had no shower chairs, so he couldn’t shower. They had a wheelchair but no paperwork so we waited a long while for them to find the papers. The phone didn’t ring except the bathroom phone, and it didn’t work for calls out, so you had to walk to the desk for anything. There was a screw on the floor below the fan in the room and the room smelled of fresh paint and mildew. There was dust throughout the room and a paint smudge on the couch. The AC sounded like a chainsaw was right outside your window and drove my husband insane. The outlet was loose and hanging out the wall a bit. The door didn't close all the way on its own. So the property would be much better if these room issues were fixed, we hope they are because the property is beautiful!

The Bahai Ambar was a wonderful place. We went in late oct, early Nov. The resort itself is huge, encompassing four different resorts, however, we stay principally on the Ambar resort. The Ambar property is well maintained and clean, everything worked. I will say that the food, both in the buffet and in the restaurants was the best I have ever had at a resort. The sports bar and staff were excellent. We had a room with a swim up pool and that was fantastic. The main pool is great and was never seemed over crowded. Where Ambar looses marks is with the staff. Dont get me wrong, they were very attentive, however, not pro-active. You had to request everything, like they never filled the mini-bar unless you asked and you had to ask sometimes for towels. The drinks at some of the bars seemed watered down, but the main bar in the lobby was good. Check in could have been better, like getting a cold towl and a drinkk without asking. Overall I would return because of the excellent food, great beach, great pool and fantastic swim up pool.

The room was clean, the staff was nice and the food was good. Our second night there, the smoke detector went off in the middle of the night multiple times. There were also quite a few brief power outages. There was a definite language barrier with only a few employees other than the front desk knowing English.
