It has 5 bedrooms, 3 & 1/2 bathrooms, one of our largest and most popular cabins. It will accommodate up to 18 people, which makes it a perfect destination for a family reunion and or retreats. The two Master Suites are located downstairs with a private entrance that is not accessible from the main house. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a dishwasher and enough dishes and silverware for your large group. As a bonus, you will also find a washer and dryer. The comfortable living room sports a new carpet, a large fireplace (firewood provided in season), that is surrounded by comfortable couches and chairs, a flat-screen satellite TV, and WiFi. It is a perfect setup for a large gathering of family and friends around a cozy fireplace. The newly built, large, private deck offers beautiful views and features a gas BBQ, picnic table, and chairs, perfect for your outdoor cooking and dining under the stars! 5 Bedrooms - 4 Bathrooms - Sleeps 18 - Multi-Level -2,628 Sq. Ft. - 1,186 Sq. Ft. Deck About the Area Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second-highest vertical-drop waterfall in Yosemite), and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup game of basketball at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The historic village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season, and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year-round riparian meadow wildlife viewing. Wawona was known to the local Native American Miwok in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area) and is located on the South Fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley. Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch, which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station. The Redwoods in Yosemite has over 120 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. There was plenty of room to socialize and even places to go if you didn't want to be with the crowds. This place has a lot of kitchen amenities and a fantastic grill, which was helpful for us to prepare huge meals. Maintenance was very responsive when we had issues, and everyone in the office was incredibly friendly. The Redwoods is a beautiful area inside Yosemite Park, with trailheads not too far away from the cabin itself. ##### Maren B. Staff professional and polite and great to work with. Sadly, spiders and mice were out of control. I understand we are staying in the wilderness and critters are hard to control, but when mice are running through the kichen while you are cooking is sad. We caught 6 mice over 5 nights. Brown spiders in cabinets, bookshelves, beds, etc.... We have stayed at Yosemite Lodge and other cabins in Mariposa and Wawona and never had this kind of problem. Let me reinforce, property managment staff were very professional and apologized for thr problem but could only give us traps to catch the little critters. ##### Mike C. There's plenty of room for everyone, and the service was great! The staff at Redwoods is top notch. The only complaint: master BR has an odor due to the old carpet. Otherwise, the house is charming. The beds were quite comfortable and the property manager was exceptional. When we arrived on the first night of our stay with steaks ready to grill, we were unable to get the gas grill going. Within 15 minutes he brought us a replacement. Our dinner plans were saved. We appreciated his friendly demeanor and quick response. We were able to be with family and close friends in one spot which allowed everyone to feel comfortable, at home, and relaxed. The cabin was equipped with everything we needed and more. It was nice to find large fans in each bedroom as summers can get warm, this allowed us to sleep comfortably. The location is inside the park entrance which made daily adventures into the Valley easy since we didn’t have to worry about waiting in the entrance line! ##### ashley p. We had plenty of space, kids enjoyed the games the cabin offered. I even got to bake homemade cookies because the cabin had all the cookware needed and available. We had 12 students and 3 chaperones in this 5-bedroom cabin, and it worked perfectly for us. The spacious layout was wonderful and the exterior entrance to the downstairs rooms totally worked. The kids enjoyed cooking meals, eating on the deck, games and stories by the fireplace, and being close to the market in Wawona. A bit distant from the valley, but not a bad drive. This property turned out to be a great back up plan when our cabin reservations in Half Dome Village got suddenly canceled due to storm damage. Thank goodness this place was available! The large fireplace kept us warm on the one or two chilly nights, and the bedrooms were spacious. Almost every bedroom had its own bathroom. The two rooms in the lower level are accessed by the outdoor stairs; there isn't a staircase inside that leads to them. The large bedroom downstairs was a little chilly in late spring. The kitchen was well-appointed and I didn't have trouble doing some baking on our vacation. The house is about 45 minutes from Yosemite Valley while still being inside the park, which means you only have to enter the gate once. My family and I enjoyed our stay. ##### Shannon M. Parking was a little tricky but we managed. One very small item, everyone thought toilet paper was under par, I told you it was a small item. Over all we had a great time and will try to return if we can. ---
